Deleted?

I asked a question about the cost of electrolysis. Was the thread deleted?

It looks like it.

The servers were just upgraded. I will alert Andrea. We don’t delete threads here.

I didn’t think so, that’s why I thought it was odd. On the flip side it seems to be loading much faster.

Please note that a few threads changed in the last day or so may have been reverted or deleted. Apologies for any inconvenience!

Darn. That was a good thread.

some of my posts on other threads have been deleted too.

From an IT standpoint, while undesireable when dealing with forum software and upgrades it IS possible the data access or version can not migrate nicely. It’s unfortunate, but it does happen. As a prior server geek for 20+ years my concern would be that the cause is addressed in the upgrade, and that no furure threads disappear. We probably wont know that for a while but it’s likely the damage is done and the thread is gone, and it’s not realistic to recover it. Trying to deal with multiple data sets from different versions of software, can get downright difficult to impossible.

So what we are hoping to learn here, is not whether one or two threads or comments disappeared ( we know they have), but whether they are continuing to do so now the upgrde is complete. This would indicate a problem between the server software and the backend database or dataset.

I’ve performed many migrations on VOIP, PHPBBS, and other LAMP customer databases. My bosses would never be happy if I told them “uh…sorry we lost your data int he upgrade” but the more important part is whether the now existing data is safe.

Interesting to know, Seana. Thanks for explaining that.

As side note to Andrea, as you know I’ve never been able to update profile picture by clicking add file. This hasnt changed in the new version. I am however able to by putting the file in my dropbox, and then using a URL.

I will try to repost it if I have time this weekend.
