dark neck from cheap jewlery

hi there everyone, i am back from my vacation and the hair on my body hasnt gotten any less…haha… like i was expecting that any time soon.

but, i just wanted to get some advice from my wonderful fellow forumers. … in older posts i mentioned that after suguring my neck to try and get rid of a dark colouration of the skin (from a result of cheap jewlery), instead what i got was hair growth that didnt exist before on the skin near my neck…its sad really… i was young and loved to wear jewlery and now i am left with dark lines on the necklace area of my neck… i have tried everything (that i know off… scrubing hard, exfoliation, sugaring, bleaching, steam baths…etc)

any advice on what i can do with my neck… i know the hair will always be there… but do you think that lazer can get rid of the hair AND the dark colouration?.. how about getting rid of the colouration by it self? any home made solutions or techniques?.. i would be so grateful for any info.

thanks so much,
rachelle

Hello Rachelle.

I do not see how sugaring can help remove skin discoloration, nor is the hair removal lasers designed for that purpose.
How long ago did this discoloration occur? I know that copper in some jewelery can leave a darker stain that can last for quite some time until the skin has shed enough. I had a cheap silver toe ring that marked me good after swimming in a heavily chlorinated pool but that mark lasted only a few weeks and since i switched to 14K gold these problems no longer occur.

As for removing your neck hairs, I would imagine we are not talking about a huge number of them, or male beard like in thickness.
Personaly I would go for electrolysis if you are doing such a small area.

Chris

thank you chris for your reply… i really appreciate it …

so now laser isnt my answer for my dark lines around my neck… hmm… i was thinking and i read about microdermabrasion for the dark lines… does anyone know about this and if it works??

about the hairs… you are absolutely right chris… they arent alot and are not thick and thats why they dont bother me as much as the dark lines…

and regarding your question about how long i had them… i have had the dark lines for about 5 years now. they never turned green like with your experience… i just got all read and itchy and then there was these black lines…

i tried scrubing hard, i tried alot of things as i already mentioned in my post and recently i have been trying something i learned on my vacation and its basically steaming my face and applying a cleanser cream on the dark lines and then putting oil and scrubbing with lemon…i’ll keep trying it for a couple of weeks and see how it goes… but i am a little skeptic becasue i have had this for 5 years and my numorous showers and baths and facials and all that hasnt done anything so why should anything happen now??

so microdermabrasion… any comments??

thanks so much.

Before you scrub you skin off, check out this link http://www.merck.com/mrkshared/mmanual/plates/13pla1.jsp and rule out Acanthosis nigricans.

choice!.. thanks so much for that site… wow!.. i did alot of research now after i saw your post to make sure i did not have Acanthosis nigricans… it is usually associated with irregular insulin levels and other factors that i do not have … i know this, because of my clear and healthy blood tests that i did not so long ago… and i searched more pictures and my neck doesnt look like the pictures… also, my neck colouration came right and as a result of cheap jewlery… but no doubt i am really motivated to see a specialist now. Oh dear God, Acanthosis nigricans is associated with lots of problems including cancer. God forbid.
