dark moustache after electrolysis . help please

I started doing electrolysis on my upper lip. i had three sessions so far. I found this week dark mustache. The lady who makes it for me told me that it will fade by time if I used hydro cortisone ointment 1% for four times a day. i am scared it would be permanent. Has anyone had this reaction. I bought today hydrocortisone 4% but scared to use it . Any advise is really appreciated . I am so scarred

Can you tell me more about your session? Sensation, amount of time, type of electrolysis, name of machine used, healing scenario. Are the hairs breaking off underneath the skin. I don’t have hyperpig happen, but it could happen for some, I suppose. You really shouldn’t have to use hydrocortisone 4%. Can you submit a quality picture? We need detailed information. Have you tried other electrologists? Modern equipment and vision aid is VERY helpful.

It was like quick pinch of the needle. I can not recall the name of the machine. The session was 30 min each. After the first two sessions I had a swallow lips for 24 hours and that is it. But she gave me aloe vera to put on 3 times a day and 1% hydrocortisone 3 times a day for 5 days. but the third session is the one that gave me all this. How would I know if the hair is breaking beneath my skin? She uses a magnifying lens. She did the electrolysis for couple of my friends and they did not have such reaction.Would I still continue electrolysis or stop . Is it gonna get worse.I post my picture under electrolysis list .The picture name is electrolysis-karin &karin1

Can you call and ask the name of the machine and type of electrolysis being used (thermolysis, blend or galvanic)?

Also, we recommend to only use witch hazel during the day and tea tree oil at night. Don’t use cortizone or anything else and avoid anything with chemicals including makeup until the skin heals.

Also, make sure to avoid overtreatment, i.e. don’t treat any area again until it’s fully healed.

does that mean if I have an area with red spots I would not let her make electrolysis in it. So I would postpone my appointment then. I have not done in three weeks for now

Can I use kojlic acid now to start lightning the area up. Where can I find it.
Please advise. I am so desperate

You could start using kojic acid, but it can take many months before it starts to work, and to be honest I think your hyperpig will have faded by then anyway. I get marks from electrolysis too that tend to last a few weeks, but some areas stay red for a good two months. My electrologist is awesome, I just have skin that gets marks easily. Could you be the same way?

I can’t see the photo very well, but if it’s just a little dark or pink, I think it will go away on it’s own. I agree that you should probably avoid retreating the area until you’re sure it’s healed though.

it is pink more than brown. How long did your hyperpig last? Did you use anything in particular

Can I stop doing electrolysis at this stage or do I have to continue? Any side effects for not continiuing

I’ve never used anything for the pigmentation and the longest it’s lasted is about two months (most marks fade sooner than that, but not all of them). It kind of fades at the same rate an acne mark fades for me. Since it’s a follicle-injury that kind of makes sense.

Sorry I can’t be of more help, but I just wanted you to not be too terribly worried. Although face work is supposed to leave FEWER marks than body work, so definitely talk to your electrologist so she can work on the settings. Dots on my tummy or arm is no big deal, but reddish marks on my face would be much more annoying! You should be able to avoid having this happen again, I think.

Oh, and you can certainly stop any time you want! Just be aware that enough hair will still be there to possibly bother you. Three sessions will not give you full results at all.

Hi Karin,

Perhaps your skin isn’t getting enough healing time.
Some people produce a lot of melanin after tissue trauma – this shows up as
dark spots. For this situation, I suggest ice immediately following treatment, then Bacitracin. On your own, for aftercare, use aloe as much as you like. Before you go to bed, apply Bacitracin for a few days. Before you leave the house, apply an oil free sunscreen.

Thanks magicalprincess kitty for all the info, If it is gonna last only for two month I can handle that. I will talk with her next time about settings

Karin

Hi Arlene,

Do you think I will do any sessions soon or i would wait until the red spots go away i.e. the hyper pigmentation thing. And if I did is there a possibility of more hyper pigmentation?
I am now using aloe vera in the morning more than once, and Oil tree in the night. my electrologist advised me to put 1% hydro cortisone ointment three times a day.

Please advise

You are not my client so I do not know all of the details but from what you reveal about your upper lip, I still suggest aloe and bacitracin.

Google some medical websites for hydrocortisone side effects.
Let us know what you come up with.

Oh, I am disclosing that I have no investments in any aloe plantation or bacitracin manufacturing business.

Arlene, if you have an aloe plant in the window or in the garden, your opinion is not unbiased.

I am alway biased in the direction of truth my dear Spaniard.

Thx arlene so much. This is my third day of using the bactiracin and aloe Vera together with tea tree oil. It started to lighten already and my red spots start to fade

Once again, yes, do not retreat any specific areas that have side effects that haven’t healed. That causes the problem.
