Damage ? how bad?

I had my third treatment last week. My doctor hada new machine. It is a VPL system. It is the McCue/Energist Ultra VPL. The treatment hurt a little more than before ( during and after the tx), but then I didnt seem to get the results I had expected the first two visits, and this machine had adjustments for hair and skin type and level of pigmentation and once programed it set the wavelength and power level. I even looked at the documentation.

It has a pretty large spot size, but I think along the edges of the treatment area maybe he didnt get the device completely seated? because I have some red burn marks. None of the spots, save one, really crusted at all and that one only very lightly. It has been almost exactly three days since the treatment.

What do you think are the chances of permanent damage? here are some pics. Not the easiest thing to take of yourself. :crazy:

That looks almost EXACTLY like what happened to me! Check out my post, “Third Treatment Today and VERY Worried” and look at my pics. It’s been a week since mine happened, and I haven’t faded much.

Yeah I saw your post. MOst of the responders seemed to think it would go away, but I am curious if anyone would be willing to comment on mine. The one side has actually gotten darker in the last day. looks a little more purplish.

most of these things resolve with time, usually within a few months. the only ones i would be worried about are really bad burns. you should apply aloe vera etc regardless.

i’m also curious as to why you’re using an IPL machine, even though you said you didn’t see much result the first 2 times.
