Cutera ProWave

I finally got off my butt and went to one appointment- another is next week.

The first place was nice enough- She uses Cutera ProWave (have a little brochure thing), forgot to ask about joules, spot size and pulse light oops. She said it was an IPL so that kind of worried me. Said also I was a good candidate. $350 for back but she knocked off 100 because I have absolutely no hair down the middle. 150 for shoulders and upper arms.

The next place I am going to appears to use LightSheer (not sure what model- will find out).

If I can figure out how to get a good enough pic of my back/shoulders will post.

Has anyone heard of the Cutera ProWave? I am reading a lot here that Cutera is not always the best and LightSheer would be better.

Both places are close to me in SC; I’m somewhat hesitant to drive further than an hour to hour and a half (personal reason & vision)- although I haven’t really looked at places like Charleston (that’s 2 hours away at least).

Electrolysis is still on the radar, though the doctor at my first apt said it was way more painful than laser (not necessarily so… ). The only thing that is a minefield for me is that South Carolina is unregulated…oh yay.

Can you post photos? Is the hair you do have on the back coarse and dense?

You should really call clinics and ask for the name of the machine before you schedule appts. I’d only schedule appts at clinics with the best lasers given all options.

Prowave is an IPL. True laser will likely be better.

LightSheer is good, but it’s not easy to use. So they need to be very experienced with it. It’s a diode. Ask if it has a 9mm or 12mm spot size and get a test spot. They need to use compression with it.

Electrolysis is completely different in terms of pain or procedure. Comparing apples and oranges there. Get some sample treatments to judge. Many states are unregulated - that’s not necessarily horrible. Just need to sample and find a good electrologist.

My main concern is that your hair may not be suitable for laser and would result in induced growth.

OK I’ll try to get photos up.
And yeah- I need to ask because I got nailed today (my fault entirely). Website said LightSheer-- it was an IsoLaz. Not entirely impressed with her but she did do test spots- behind the ears??? Hm ok. Odd thing was she was also pushing waxing (combine the two?!). Yeah that’s a new one.

I have trouble with the phone thanks to my deafness so I tend to get quite…frustrated at times and forget to ask the important stuff many times (and writing it down lol).

The Monkey shall return; Thanks LAGirl

That whole thing is a gimmick. I’d stay away from that place.

Sorry for taking a while- I had to come up with creative ways to take my pics lol- that and a long tiring week (allergies…yay!)

Yeah I plan to… I just did NOT have a good vibe about that place at all on weds.

I uploaded pics but I don’t know if I was or was not supposed to in the Old pic gallery (if not- oops and I apologize…and let me know)

HairyMonkey

I suspect I could get away with electrolysis even though both ladies said it would be expensive (no kidding). The first place I went to said it was possible to do mine- She actually stuck to the topic of hair & treatment!
