I was told during my consultation they use a Cutera laser which i heard was an IPL and not a true “laser” so when i asked the consultant she said it is both an IPL and a laser and they use the laser settings for hair removal. Is this legit?
Cutera is the name of the company which makes a wide variety of light-emitting devices, including IPL and laser.
As far as I know, the only true laser they manufacture is an Nd:YAG. If your Fitzpatrick skin type is from I-III, you would be better off with an alexandrite or diode laser.
You should ask for the model of the machine. Cutera makes a bunch of different lasers and IPLs, but mostly Yags.
Yags are fine for very dark coarse hair, but they’re best for darker skin. Alexandrite laser is more powerful for a light skin type I-III.
MissVegas,
Cutera Coolglide and Xeo were the first lasers approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal… so needless to say, yes, they are legit. Yag is effective on all skin types. As for their IPL’s, they have a wide variety of IPL’s for a multitude of FDA approved applications.
Trying to get a sense of why you are posting here. Your company offers laser repair service? Is this a nationwide service?
Just because a machine can be used on all skin types, doesn’t mean that it should. Technically, all machines can be used on all skin types, just not necessarily at effective settings if customers are looking for results.
