crazy to do IPL

I currently pay £12.50 every 3 weeks for a brazillian wax it is annoying since it only lasts 1.5 weeks before grow in patches.
I would hate to go back to shaving though no thank you.
I worked out its £75 for 6 x sessions.
Groupon have an offer £49 for 6 x IPL brazilian I am not daft I know IPL is no where near laser and if I could afford it I would so be jumping on that band wagon but I do not have the funds for laser.

So if IPL did anything then fab if not well I’ve saved a bit of money for other beauty treatments. I know with waxing its only a temp measure.

Am I crazy to consider a groupon IPL funds are tight at moment if I could reduce hair in area and save money on treatment that would be best outcome but obviously don’t want damage in area

I give up I’ve written this post 4 times above
I’m looking to save money on currently monthly Brazilian waxes by doing an IPL Brazilian from groupon.
I am not daft I know its not laser and won’t hold anywhere near results, but its cheaper by quite a bit than going for my normal waxes half the price over the 6 x treatments.
I can not afford laser just not in my current price range so even if nothing comes of the IPL it will at least save me half the money I’m currently paying for waxes to go towards other beauty treatments.
Am I mad to consider a groupon IPL

I have a wax at present every 3 weeks lasts about 2 weeks before patches start to grow though the last week is just a pain waiting to go in, but never want to go back to shaving.

Wow… Is IPL really THAT different to laser? I wasn’t aware :open_mouth:

Are there any studies that show a difference/some manner of comparison, or is this just the observation on the forums here?

IPL to my understanding not just from this forum but from lots of other places and peoples views is weaker the effects do not last as long as laser and the reduction rate is a lot less.
This is why you see offers on it often and places like groupon doing deals.
People that have the money to pay full price are going for the proper laser treatment that has more guarentee in reduction and longevity if done correct.

this came up on first search engine google, but they all basically say the same.

Yeah, I’ve read stuff like that (the link). Thing is, impartial (or as impartial as you can get) sources are hard to come by with this. Clinics doing laser say IPL isn’t as effective, laser is more tailored to the skin/hair combo. Clinics doing IPL say it is just as effective and is safer…

But from what I have been reading in different forums today, people like IPL less. From what I gathered, if the hair colour (melanin) is affected at all, it IS permanent. Doesn’t come back. (not talking abut the shedding bit). Maybe I’m wrong though, this is pretty confusing.

If you want to go for IPL, go for it. You won’t really know if it works on you until you try it. If you do, keep us posted!

I’d give it a pass and wait for a real laser deal. I had some great laser sessions but I’m nowhere near hairless in those areas, just significantly reduced.
