You need electrolysis for the grey hair, Damien. The carbon stuff doesn’t work. The roots below the skin need to be dark to attract the laser light.
Thanks for giving the thumbs up to Avenue Day Surgery. I’m sure that will save some people the angst of trying to figure out where yo go for laser. DO a search here on hairtell for electrologists. I think Melbourne has been mentioned before.
This forum already had saved me big dollars by avoiding those $4000 do it yourself lasers. (Although my suspicsions were raised when they wouldn’t take credit card, only wire transfer).
I’ll give an electrologist a call. I guess I can tell them to concentrate on the grey hairs.
I guess this leads to another question though (thanks Dee + others in advance).
I can see from the forums electrolysis works, but …
Is electrolysis a reasonable proposition for thick male facial hair (thick as in each hair is a big tough hair, but not so thick in terms of hairs per area) ? Or does it not really suitable it terms of time/cost etc ?
I guess there is no really good answer to this as it is all subjective. I don’t quite know how to phrase the question, is it a good idea ? are there contra-indications ? or perhaps is electrolysis only really best suitable for fine sparse hair
with thicker hair being much less suitable ?
Yes, electrolysis works on any hair structure, on any skin color, on any color of hair, man or woman, rich or poor, short or tall, fat or thin :/. The trick is, you must find an electrologist that is skilled, who has armed herself/himself with the best tools to do the job as quickly and confortably as possible, leaving the upper layers of skin looking as if nothing has happened.
Using MicroFlash or PicoFlash thermolysis, with a pre-packaged, sterile, disposable probe, surgical magnification and a great light source gets the job done and I’m not kidding.
I know the public is told that electrolysis is only good for thin, sparse hair, but that is totally and laughably false. If you find an electrologist that has set themself up for success, who has stamina and has proper training and continues their education beyond that training, you will be fine and your goal will be realized within 9?, 12?, 15?, 18? months.
Get those consults after you jot down a few notes about what gets a person from point A to point B when seeking electrolysis care. It’s amazing how many electrologists disadvantage themselves by using old technology that only frustrates and hurts the unwanted hair consumer to the point where they give up and become more depressed by their situation.
Electrolysis is not only for a few sparse hairs or small areas IF you find a modern electrologist and YOU are consistent with your appointments that correspond to those pesky, seemingly never-ending hair growth cycles.
Damien, it would be great if you posted some more detailed information about your face treatments. We have a lot of men worried about patchiness due to some reports by men who went to less than optimal clinics and treated by less than optimal lasers and IPL.
And to reiterate, electrolysis works very well on coarse hair. Just find someone who knows what they’re doing.
