cortisone cream ?

Hi all,

Would you recommend using cortisone cream straight away after the treatment then apply it twice a day for 3 days and then discontinue it ?

I find that it helps the skin recovers quicker when used after any hair removal methods.

No. Less is better, in my opinion. Witch hazel…maybe add a little wintergreen alcohol.

I agree with Barbara. Cortisone cream will only delay your body’s natural healing process. If any serious redness persists after three or four days, then applying a very small amount of cortisone cream directly on each blemish is okay. Witch hazel is excellent at reducing inflammation on the first three to four days after treatment. Wash with soap and water, then wipe with witch hazel and allow to dry naturally.

For those who tend to heal slowly, I suggest:
Apply bacitracin and mix in a little aloe a couple of times a day, for just a few days, after you’ve applied your alcohol-free witch hazel.

I have read that cortisone is not ideal as it thins the skin.

Since we are talking about healing skin, doesn’t it make the most sense to give the body what it needs to make new skin? Hair, skin, and fingernails are the same substance in different states. There are many supplements on the market designed exactly for growing good skin, hair and nails.

I have had great success with this approach. At a minimum, Vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc would be good, and vitamin A would be a nice addition.

Thank you all for your inputs, Much appreciated.

What about this herbal cream : http://www.chinaherbstore.com/mebo-moist-exposed-burn-ointment-safe-quick-nopain-noscar-burn-wound-p-357.html

I am not selling anything but I want to be prepared after having electrolysis on my face I have a very very sensitive skin. Would applying this kind of ointment reduce post treatment trauma ?

I had a burn before on my cheeks. My skin turned blackish but after applying this herbal thing 6 times a day for 4 days there was no scar whatsoever although the smell wasn’t good at all.

Clients are free to try whatever they want. I don’t like burn ointments or much else for aftercare, other than witch hazel, tea tree oil and a high quality of refrigerator cold aloe vera gel. Some people don’t always need the tea tree part, depends on a few skin characteristics.

Here’s what I would do: after receiving electrolysis, try your product on one area, use nothing on another area and use witch hazel, a small dab of tree tea oil and cold aloe vera gel on another. Experience a few options and see how it goes for your particular skin type. Lastly, let this community know what you think.

It is very important to find an electrologist that is well- trained, uses their equipment well and cares about your skin outcome. I will even go as far as to reccommend that you try to find an electrologist that has updated to better technology. Seek, compare and then choose for yourself. Many people get treatment and really need no more aftercare than soap and water. Skin reaction beyond three days is back to normal. Seek, compare, choose. You will be surprised at how different electrologists can be regarding SKILL, comfort, speed and skin reaction and equipment choice that can affect outcome. Then you may not need a Chinese burn ointment.

Most people probably don’t need anything more than witch hazel.
