I know that I have asked this question before. I have been going to thermolysis for 2 yrs and i started with someone who does blend 3 mths ago. I am at my wits end. I go to the blend on mondays for 2 hrs and all we are able to do is my neck and not completely thats because she doesnt know how to burst the hair bumps, but my thermolysis is a wiz at it. So I use both of them. I go to the blend lady once a week and my thermolysis twice a month, now I went monday to the blend lady and she cleared my face as it appeared. on weds i went to my thermolysis lady for her to get about 4 big bumps that were on my neck. She always starts on my sideburn area. Now there isnt much left on my face, except for my upper lip area and i have a few scattered out that are still hard and curved. at any rate she took about 3 mins on one side of my face and when she got down to my neck she had to get the needle. Now i thought there was only 1 or 2 bumps but she ended up bursting about 20 on one side and she got those. then she got to my chin, which has been fuzz for about almost a year. she is finding hairs everywhere that is not visible to the naked eye. then she moved to the other side and got those. The 15 mins session I thought i needed turned into an hr. now it is friday night and i have hair ALREADY ON MY NECK AGAIN. Now I have started seeing results with the blend method because 90% of the hairs now are straight and softer much softer than 3 mths ago, but when is it gonna end. When I first went to the blend lady, there was a patch of fuzz on one corner of my neck and she said, i am positive these are gonna come back, because they were very shallow, fine and some just fell out without much effort, and she was using HIGH BLEND. Those hairs come right back, and she has hit that area 13 times and still they come right back.
I am frustrated, i havent had a social life in 2 yrs due to the embarrassing bumps on my neck. When I go to the dr for my hormone test it comes back at a level it supposed to be for a female and I still cant get rid of this damned hair. I am totally tired of spending 200 dollars a week. Now I have gone 2 days to electrolysis and got totally clear and 2 days later i have hair right back. WHY IS THIS? When will I get to the point of going once a mth for 30 mins? Is it possible that it is never going away? I am so deep in the hole with electrolysis.
I havent dated because i wont go anywhere, I was once a beautiful woman with gorgeous skin and i have been looking like an antfarm has gotten to my neck for the past 2 yrs. Now all of a sudden, it seems as if the hairs are coming back immediatley.
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS
sorry the blend lady said she was positive that the fine hairs she hit WASNT gonna come back not gonna.
I have no doubt that this is either a skill or equipment issue or both!
Don’t make the false assumption that blend is the answer because thermolysis works on all hair structures and I mean ALL.
I use microflash thermolysis on many a faces and necks and time to completion is anywhere from 9- 12 months, followed by very short nit-picky appointments from month 13 to month 18.
The newer computerized, digital professional epilators are absolutely awesome when combined with surgical magnification, quality lighting, proper timing of appointments (which you have done), proper probe size and…HUMAN SKILL. Anyone getting sick and tired of me emphasizing that point yet? This is not to say that a skilled electrologist can not deliver permanent hair removal with older technology, they can and do it all the time. There is something lacking here with your experience, as we have said in the past. There always is when these type of outcomes are reported. Thus, we strongly push posters to sample as many electrologist’s work as possible.
Time to completion issues raise frustration. There are better ways to do this so you don’t go broke having facial electrolysis.
I say this without seeing you, mswham, but for my genetically female clients, it is not this dramatic to get the hair off permanently with thermolysis, especially so with microflash and Picoflash thermolysis. First clearance can be achieved and the area maintained and you actually come to an end within 9-18 months. The last six months, you are dramatically almost finsihed except for a few stragglers here and there.
I don’t know what you want to do after being with one of the electrologists for two years. The next to last thing I’ll say is, Austin, Texas has more than two electrolgists. If you can witness someone with a higher end Apilus, Silhouet-Tone VMC or other computerized epilator, then try it. If your practitioner is using a computerized epilator, then I would next ask if she can see well or is she undertreating the hair or is she using a big enough probe??? hmm.

I am a pre op transexxual not a genetic female. I have been to 4 over the past 2 yrs. Now everyone says find a good electrolysis but there is no way possible to tell if the one that u are using is good or bad. We are novices. All i know is that i dont feel them plucking the hair. The hair is coming out with ease. The blend lady is using high blend on my neck. I am sure this is frustrating to all electrolysis to read this but I am an african american transsexual that had a lot of extremely curly hard coarse hair on my face n neck.
Coarse curly hairs are the hardest to treat, but had you been seeing me even once every 6 to 8 weeks, you would be way ahead of where you seem to be now.
Hi:
I am not sure how many hours you have in in total,
but this is something you have to stick with till it is over.
It might take you another year or two, but ultimately you will get to the point where there will be less and less hair.
I am going to briefly give my history of treatment just as a
reference point. I started out with laser and had 9-10 sessions on my face and neck. After that I started on electolysis with
99% of it being thermolysis. at times I felt just as frustrated as you do. After 125 hours of that I am now into maintenance,
but probably don’t need any more treatment. I am getting her to clear any remaining hairs, of which I might get one that is a bristly type one. That might take 10 minutes every 2 weeks.
I then use the rest of the time to do other areas of my body.
If you have been at it for 2 years now and are starting to see some improvement then I think you may be close to the breakthrough point. I know right now it seems like the breaking point though for you. Stick with it and try to get fully cleared each time even if it takes 2 hour sessions. In the end it will
all be worth it. I’ve been through this too, so seriously I understand and empathize.

I agree with the previous posts. Try sampling more electrologists around your area and keep going every week (it’s best to remove the hair as soon as they pop out).
Have you considered thinning out your hair with a Yag laser first? It usually works great on African Americans to reduce ingrowns etc.
I’m an Austin Electrologist who uses the Apilus epilator. Since beginning to use the computerized features on it, I’ve seen clearance rates go from 50% in six treatments up to 90% in six treatments. I’ve been tracking progress using a hair density system since 1982. I’ve done years of research and lecture on my results. People usually end up at MY clinic last as my rates are somewhat higher than average. However, I give deep discounts for long appointments. The longer the appointment the deeper the discount. Those who do find me are thrilled and frequently tell me I’m worth twice what they paid before, and I’m only about 10% higher than average. Please shop around, ask the electrologist about her credentials, or look up electrologists by the big search engine, then look at their web sites. Since Texas is NOT a state that licenses electrologists, you need to find a CPE, Certified Professional Electrologist as we sit for a difficult national exam proctored by the Chauncy Group at Princeton University. Then find a CPE with an Apilus machine who actually USES the multipulse/microflash thermolysis feature and KNOWS how to use it effectively. Experience + knowledge + skill = A hairless face of which you can be proud.
