confused about laser treatments

Hello,

I’m confused about how much hair should be killed on the surface of skin, immediately, during a laser treatment?

I had 4 treatments for my face with Alexandrite Apogee Laser last year. But because around 60 % of hair grew back I decided to continue. Today I had a treatment after a break. The setting was 23 joules. I felt a bit of pain, but when I came home I noticed that while some hair seemed to be burned and disappeared, around 60% is still there and seems strong. Is it normal or was the treatment not detailed enough? Thank you.

Hair grows in cycles. At any time, only about 30% of all the hair you have is visible. Also, it can only be killed in the first phase of growth, the anagen phase.

This is explained in the FAQs at the link below, which you should read asap.

One thing that is not made clear by the clinics is that laser ONLY works on COARSE DENSE growth. Most hair on women’s faces doesn’t qualify. I don’t know what type of hair you have left at this point, but there is a good chance that it’s time to switch to electrolysis if you want all of it gone.

Also, all treated hair should shed after each treatment. You can’t tell what happened to the hair by just looking at it. You need to see what sheds in 3 weeks. Whatever is growing as usual at 3 weeks wasn’t affected.

Thank you for your answer. I think I may look into electrolysis as I’m not sure if laser treatments work for me.
