Complete clearance

Hi everyone, I have recently changed electrologist and yesterday had a complete clearance of my beard area in 2 and half hours.
Before treatment pics ( i had let my hair grow for a week)

After treatment

Now my question is, is this amount of scabbing ok. There are a few white dots on my chin not sure what they are called. I would like your opinions on the treatment and how often i should go and get a complete clearance?
Thanks

This amount of scabbing appears fine, not concerning at all. The white dots are little infections in the follicle. They can happen for a few reasons, but if your electrologist is clean and professional, the likely cause is leftover matter in the follicle which will work its way out naturally. It’s only a concern if you have a face full of them after your treatment. You can wipe them away gently with a hot washcloth as they appear.

How often does your electrologist recommend waiting between clearances? If you can stand to let the hair grow out, then a monthly treatment would be reasonable, and you likely wouldn’t need the 2.5 hours each time.

Thank you Thermo for your response. My electrologist recommended that i come for a complete clearance once a month for at least 6 months and afterwards i will need fewer and shorter sessions. At first i wanted to get laser done so i can lighten the hair as i have heard that thermolysis doesn’t work well on coarse hair like mine (and to be honest at this point the coarseness of the hair is more of an issue for me than the amount. If i shave in the morning, i usually have a stubble by night or sometimes even after shaving quite close to the skin i can still see the stubble) but my electrologist recomeded i do electrolysis rather than laser. She offers both.

Your electrologist is giving some great advice. I would only typically recommend laser on the face for someone with a male beard and/or a lot of density. The amount of hair on your face and neck is definitely not enough to justify laser.

Thermolysis or electrolysis is effective on all types of hair unlike laser. This includes very deep rooted or coarse hair, as well as hair with little to no pigment, which laser cannot target at all.

A monthly treatment for six months is exactly the approach that I would take. At that point, you could probably continue monthly treatments at a shorter duration for three more months. After you hit that nine or twelve month milestone, you’ll really start to see the sessions become shorter and the time between sessions stretched out longer. This is a good indication that you’re seeing results.

Did you hold anything in your hand? If this was thermolysis then this is pretty much expected that’s why I use blend on the face. All the scabs are round so that’s good and they will heal. Personally I don’t like thermolysis on the face because of the healing so I’d wait to have another treatment. I do blend treatments every 3 weeks.

Hi Jdesloges, no i didnt hold anything in my hand. I used to do thermolysis a few years ago but dont remember this much scabbing but then my hair was finer so not sure if that was a reason. yes, the scabbing takes at least two weeks to get better so it is an issue if i am going outside. Between growing my hair for 1 week before electrolysis and then 2 weeks of scabs, i have to wear a mask for three weeks of the month. Does blend leave face with no scabs? And is it as fast as thermolysis? Unfortunately i dont think anyone here in Melbourne offers blend but i will have a talk with my electrologist if she will do it.
