I’m thinking of combining electrolysis with laser hair removal for my face for the sole reason that the different opinions regarding which is best is making my head spin hahaha …
are there any dangers to this? or is it just maybe a little over-kill on my part.
also does electrolysis leave any permanent scars or pits. i have quite fair, evenly toned skin on my face
If you are going to do that, then I would do the laser first for the recommended number of treatments and then begin electrolysis to kill of any hairs which are still left.
If you don’t have a lot of facial hair them you might be best to go with electrolysis from the beginning and forget about laser.
Laser is only effective on dark hairs and you have to be clean shaved since it works on the hair beneath the skin. With electrolysis you have to have enough days of growth for them to be able to see the hair, treat the follicle and remove it with tweezers after treating it.
It is possible to get skin damage with either laser or electrolysis if the settings are too high. It is also possible to get skin damage if an area is overtreated with electrolysis.
A skilled practitioner knows how to treat someone without causing skin damage.
Aliciadarling, your post is great. Totally agree. Why is it that people always fear skin damage from electrolysis, but never seem to show the same level of fear about laser?
Thanks for pointing out that laser can cause skin damage as well if not done correctly.
There are plenty of pictures here on hairtell that show laser burns, so do be on guard for that possiblity as well, marie.
I ditto Aliciadarling’s excellent advice and I would read all her posts as she’s LIVED THROUGH IT with both laser and electrolysis.
The hair on my face is not too bad. But it bothers me of course
Its 98% blonde. A few are a little too long for my liking which is why I want rid of them. I have a few stray brown ones on sides of upper lip but thats pretty much it.
I think Im going to go for electrolysis and leave the laser as far as my face goes…I had my first session on Saturday.
Im worried that my practitioner is not licensed though… I think I posted a different thread about that
you do need electrolysis only. laser doesn’t work on blond hair, and there is no point of doing it on your face if most of the hair is blond.
on the electrolysis section of this forum, you can find local recommendations and suggestions on what to look for when going in for consultations and sample treatments.
I can only say ‘ditto’ to lagirls statements. I’ve had 4 laser treatments on my face and see very little difference. Laser seems so work best on underarms and bikini area.
