I would like the opinion of my colleagues. If you wanted to use the clear and wait method on a laser induced client e.g back, how long would you wait after the clients last laser session before you would commence clear and wait method?
My opinion? Immediately if the skin looks normal. Many laser specialists, who are also electrologists, will remove gray hair right after a treatment session with laser, when the skin displays erythema and edema.
Sorry Dee this is not what I meant. I think I have not asked the question clearly. I was not meaning about skin condition i was thinking the induced regrowth.
I will give you an e.g.
Male client laser induced hair growth on back.
Last laser session 2 mths before i started treating.I started working on upper back. I would clear a patch a week later a lot more induced growth is present in the patch i had treated. so i found i was maintaining and advancing. Ths went on for about 6 mths before induced regrowth really settled. I was at a point where I started to doubt my work.
On his lower back, I started treatment 8 mths after his last laser session. I was able to do clear and wait method because I a lot of the induced regrowth had come through in the 8 mths. so it was clear the area and wait the 3mths where as upper back was clear and more hair was coming through in 1-2 weeks.
So I am wondering is it better to have a client start electrolysis about 6mths - 12mths after laser hair removal. If the client is happy to wait.I am only talking about body not the face. What do you think?
By the way my client is very happy and very comfortable now, but I am wondering if it would have been less intense if client had waited 6-12 mths before I had started treating.
I’m not an electrologist but I will share with you what several electrologists have told me (I’ve done laser before, so I wanted to find out how that would affect electrolysis treatments.)
One told me that I should wait at least 1 year. Another one told me that she would treat me right away but to realize that hair could grow back in up to 18 months after treatment. The one I’m seeing now basically didn’t seem to really care because she would kill the hair as they grew in from laser anyways (waiting until the next cycle appeared after a laser treatment of course.)
Induced growth seems to be a bit different because the hair I’m having treated wasn’t “induced” but rather was “reduced” after laser treatments.
Oh, I understand now what you were asking, Sahar. I fall in line with Brenton’s third electrologists opinion. This hair stimulation is a highly frustrating occurrence when it happens and Brenton, you are saying that your thick hairs were reduced in size, but not eliminated. Some people think that’s success.
Unless a client has complete confidence in me (for example,if I have completed another area for them),I prefer to wait for 6 months. Less frustration for the client, makes my life easier.
