chin: weekly treatment

Hi! I’ve been having a weekly treatment for the last 2 months on my chin with full clearance each time. Takes about 30 minutes and it’s mostly because I asked to use lower settings, so the electrologist has to shoot each hair sometimes 4-5 times… Often it bleeds (is it normal, by the way? I don’t mind bleeding, but it freaks me out when she removes the drops of blood with her fingers. I asked her not to do that so many times, but she keeps forgetting and does it anyway). It makes my skin inflamed and those dark red mini-wounds hurt and it takes more time to get rid of the marks they leave on the skin…(((

And each week hair grow back, sometimes in 2-3 days there are few of them are already present. We also tried higher settings which leave the marks on my sensitive skin for weeks – same result – they grow back fast.

She uses flash and an older version of machine (“Fisher”, I guess). I asked about the settings and she didn’t know, because there was no way to tell (the machine doesn’t have a screen, just some green and yellow light indicators…

I read here that treatments 6 weeks apart are optimal, and for those who want to stay hair-free always – 3-4 weeks apart recommended. In my case it grows back fast, so I have to go in each week.

Will you suggest to start looking for another electrologist?

In my opinion you should try an other electrolysis. After 2 mouths of weekly treatments you should see some results. (8 sessions isn’t it ?)

When the electrologist is removing the hair, do you feel any traction ?
Before the treatment, did you pluck the hair ?

If I feel the plucking sensation, I tell her right away. And I hold the mirror all the time while she is working, so I can see (and feel) that the majority of hair slide effortlessly (no plucking necessary).

I am more concerned with poor hygiene (she answers the phone and schedule other people which I am okay with, but never changes the gloves and then removes blood from my chin – that is something I totally NOT okay with). I even not sure that she sterilizes her tweezer. I brought mine (4 different kinds!) and asked her to try if she’ll be comfortable to use it. She tried and said that she got used to her tools and switched back to them.

No, I didn’t pluck my hair during last 2 months.

That is a good thing you don’t feel any plucking. However if you are not comfortable with this electrologist, you could try an other and see the difference.

Before starting the treatment, did you use to tweeze your hair ?
Electrolysis treatment, if it is done properly, take time to permanently remove all the hair in the treated area, but after several treatments you should be able to see a difference (if the area was never touched by tweezer before the treatment).
