Hi, I just registered to this site (found it searching through google). Been reading ppls storys and topics about this stuff and I though well why the hell not ask for advice.
I’m a male 19 with tanned skin - not the full on tanned skin but you can tell a difference. I’m growing hair on my cheek bone which follows up to my eyebrow. It looks like it connects from a distance but it doesnt from close up. Its a very very thin layer of hair on both sides of the face. I can pluck it off but it gets very annoying because I will always need to do it. So my questions are, is there any quicker ways I can do this? How can I get this perminatly removed for less then A$150? Should I just always go to the hair dresses and get it stringed off or something?

I really would advise electrolysis for a permanent solution, but you won’t realize permanency for under $150. You cannot set the price for something you want because time,effort and the amount of hair you have determine the cost. This is all done over a period of about one year because hair grows in cycles and we have to play a waiting game for all offending hairs to come to the surface at least one time so we can destroy the follicle in which the hair is nourished. You have no control over when the hair will appear and the electrologist has no control over when the hair will appear. You just go when the new hair pops out and get it treated, ususally every 2-3 weeks for a bit after the first full clearance.
If you are not commited to a plan, then electrolysis is not the answer for you. Temporary measures will have to suffice until you realize that you are sick of temporary and yearn for the permanent solution.
So learn about your options and sort it all out for yourself and in the meantime, we’d all be happy to answer any concerns you may have.
Hi, I’ve updated my profile. How much does the average person pay for something like this? Its just from the upper cheek bone and goes to the eyebrow. By the way shaving … shaving that area doesnt help it?
you can shave, thread, wax, clip, pluck etc. all those are temporary methods and relatively inexpensive, but you have to do it every few weeks forever.
electrolysis kills the root, but it treats one hair at a time. also, hair grows in several cycles, so it takes about 9-12 months of treatments every few weeks (for your situation, the treatments probably won’t be more than 30-60 mins each to start and then down to 15 mins; cost on average is $60 per hour;it basically depends on how many individual hairs you have to remove, which we can’t tell over the internet).
Zeddy, in trying to answer your question about cost, there is no average person or average electrologist. Each client is unique and every electrologist is unique in their speed, skill, equipment choice and method used. With that in mind, I always stick my neck out like a goose and think back to someone that I have treated with a similar problem to just give you an idea of cost. So… keeping that in mind, I would think you may be looking at a general price range of less than $500 spread out over a year. You are not looking at thousands of dollars and you are not looking at $150. That would probably be the best answer I could give you, but you really need to concentrate on finding a skilled electrologist that can see your problem. Hopefully, there is one in or around Victoria. Do a search here on hairtell as I slightly remember some posters from Australia mentioning some names. I’ll check it out too when I get some time.
