I’m researching pain relief for electrolysis. I’m avoiding the under the nose area because it is just too painful. However, I have got to do it sometime…
I wondered if anyone has used cayenne papper for pain relief from electrolysis before. It is mentioned on the web as a topical pain relief agent.
I can’t imagine using that for electrolysis. It’s intended for arthritis, muscle aches, etc. I’ve used it for myself a few times, and it actually made my skin burn hours after I used it when I took a shower or even just washed my hands. I wouldn’t put that stuff anywhere near my face.
LMX, EMLA, Topicaine, Stud 100, etc. or even ice are helpful with the upper lip.
I would think that the only value cayenne pepper would have would be that the irritation would be such that it would distract from some of the feeling of the treatment, however, electrolysis, and upper lip work especially would not really be a good use for this type of topical. The place where one feels the treatment is so far down that most things only lessen the sensation. Nothing but an injectable is going to remove the sensation entirely. This is why one is better getting many treatments by many people in one’s area to find the best person available, or traveling. Depending on skill, and equipment, even upper lip work can be comfortable even without topicals. Of course, the client must co-operate as well, by bringing a body that is well rested, well hydrated, and free of stimulants such as caffeine.
