Is hirutism an inherited tendency and not a disease where as PCOS is a disease? Can PCOS run in the family , though, and in that sense be inherited? Can medicine like Spiro and BCP help anyone with hair growth, regardless of the cause?
I’ve had tests and PCOS could be an option they said, but to come back when I was ready to have kids. Acne is not a problem and my periods are normal and blood sugar too. My aunt on my mom’s side is infertile and my mom’s face is even worse than mine with lots of blonde, (some thick others not), hairs (some are long even) that go every which way. Dark hairs straggle on chin and under chin and the thickness is getting worse. She, however, is going through menapause and her hair growth has increased these past few years.
I have some thick dark hairs on my chin and under it and these have gotten steadily worse in the past 5 years, along with a lot more blonde hair on my chin and under it on my neck (many thick) but I am only 31!! Could this be hereditary or is my mom’s just menapause related. She did not suffer from this at my age. If it is hereditary then does that mean it is just hirutism and not PCOS?
Thanks,
Alli
