Can't find a good local clinic

I’ve been looking around for a decent laser hair removal clinic in Tampa, FL for a while now and have not been able to find any. The problem is that most clinics either don’t have any patient reviews or the reviews seem to be fake. I did try to search for reviews on this forum and couldn’t find any helpful reviews for Tampa. I’ve read quite a few of LAgirl’s posts and her FAQ and have learned some general stuff about laser hair removal, but I still need help with finding a local clinic.

I am from the middle east, so my skin is darker (skin type 3 or 4). I do have very dark and coarse hair though. Last summer I did a single session of Alexandrite (17.5) on my arms and even though I had a good tan a few weeks earlier, I did not have any burns on my arms aside from a small burn on my left forearm, which was visibly more tanned than my other arm (exposed to sun while driving). For the past few weeks, I’ve tried to stay out of the sun, so I’m ready to get this done. I think I can either use Alexandrite or GentleYag.

For the most part, I’m hoping to find a reputable clinic that has reasonable prices. Ideal Image is one of the most famous ones I’ve come across, but they are too expensive and their way of giving you their prices in person seems a bit shady to me. American Lasers Center is another one I’ve looked at and they seem to have very bad reviews.
I’ve looked at quite a few other clinics, but none of which seem to have any reviews or anything. Please advise.

Sorry for the long post and thanks.

Did you not get good results at the place you did alex before to go back? Just look for a yag or alex, you decide based on your skin tone. I wouldn’t go by reviews they can be skewed. For me I choose a clinic but just first finding the laser type I want, either GentleLASE or Apogee Elite, then going either for a full treatment on an inexpensive area like underarms, or doing a test patch. That way you can see what settings they use, if it hurts, if they’re too low, if they’re willing to go higher etc. You can also make up questions or lie, say things like your friend did laser before but they had patchy results and so on so you were nervous to try, see what they say, if they explain how they prevent it and so on.

That place was overseas, so I can’t really go back. Is it a good thing if they are willing to go higher? Because, I really wouldn’t mind the pain; I just don’t want to get skin cancer or some other long term skin disease…

Have you checked the link below (third one) where we list links where you can enter your zip code to find clinics near you with those machines? Most of us found clinics that way. Now that you know what you’re looking for, you should be able to judge from your consultation whether they’re knowledgeable. Ask for settings and to do a test spot.

Judy Adams in St Augustine is famous in the industry. But she’s a 3hr drive from you. I’m sure there are people closer to you.
