Canadian Aesthetic Academy

Has anyone tried Canadian Aesthetic Academy in Toronto for LHR?
I tried them, but am very unsatisfied with the results. I wanted to see if perhaps it was just me or if anyone else is unsatisfied with them.

Never heard of them. What kind of laser do they use and what settings were used on you? What area were you treating? Are you male/female? What’s your skin type and hair type?

It’s kind of funny that they say all their technicians are certified laser techs, but then their other page says they’re an aesthetic school and they provide certification in laser etc lol.

Well, someone recommended them to me so I went. I suppose I should have asked about the laser. The rates were really good.
I’m done my sessions now, but I don’t see much of a difference. I understand laser only reduces hair but I don’t see much reduction either. They kept telling me that it was my hormones…which could be true.

So I just wanted to hear other’s experience with that place.

We need more information, how many sessions have you gone for? Are you male or female, what is your hair like? What area and what is your skin type? You need to find out what the laser they use is. Regardless, you should have all hair shed within 3 weeks after a treatment and be hair free for a month or so after. Laser does only reduce the hair but only after multiple sessions. Without knowing the laser type used they could be using an IPL for all we know.

Please read our FAQs at the link below. There are a lot of variables involved in treatments…either your hair is not coarse enough for laser, or they used low settings, or a bad machine and low settings, or all of the above. We can’t help without all of the information that edokid asked. It’s also important how often treatments were spaced and if you ever saw shedding. All treated hair should shed within 3 weeks. If that didn’t happen, nothing was happening to your hair.

I am female, South Asian, the closest description of my skin would be: TYPE V: Sun-insensitive skin, rarely burns, tans well.
Example: Hispanics, Afro-American, Middle Eastern. My hair is black but not coarse but I was conscious of the hair on my face. I got the sessions for 1/2 face. I wasn’t particularly hairy but thought it would be nice to get rid of the hassle to have to thread my mustache.

I had 13 sessions, and in between my session I never shaved because I didn’t need to. It was towards the end, after session number 11 that I noticed hair in places I didn’t have hair before. I called them and asked what machine they used and they said IPL.

I basically came to this forum to see if anyone has tried this same place.

  • Laser and IPL can only impact coarse hair. If your hair isn’t coarse, they shouldn’t have treated you in the first place. You need electrolysis to remove this hair instead.

  • IPL is also not good for skin type V, so if you consider doing your underarms or bikini or another area with coarse hair, you should look for a Yag laser.
