Hello pros!
I am posting this as I am really needing some advice from several professional electrologists please!
I am a cis gender female, 30 years old. No apparent hormone imbalances or other diagnosis. Just some extra hair I wish I didn’t have.
I have re-embarked on my electrolysis journey last year (November 2024). I am treating my upper lip and have had a 13 sessions - about 4 weeks apart. The clinic I go to encourages to go at this pace and I have been okay with this.
I have dark hair and it is fine. I also have pretty light/fair skin. I have no history of plucking and just shave the hair to remove it.
I would say that sessions 1-6 were maybe 40mins each
sessions 7-13 maybe 30mins each.
So around 7 hours of total treatment if my maths isn’t too horrible.
I am finding that when I count the hairs, I cannot see a significant drop in the returning (or new hair). I am counting roughly 100-150 hairs that return in between the sessions from around week 2 or so (that I shave down) and the same amount when I allow the hair to grow out before an appointment. Similarly, I have to shave every other day as this is when the hair is popping through and becomes visible again so the frequency of that hasn’t really dropped yet.
I don’t feel any traction with the hairs coming out. My electrologists have been mostly encouraging but I am wondering if I should be further along or am I just impatient?
It is a taxing process overall, but I am okay to accept this as long as there’s a finish line. She did mention that some of the fine hairs did not come out with the white sheath whereas a thicker hair it did with more ease. I mostly get full clearances or removal of the visible hair in the area during the session, but there are sessions where afterwards I can see with my little torch light over the area that maybe a dozen fine hairs are missed.
Happy to answer any queries on any points I may have left out. I am open to any advice and thoughts.
