Dear Lagirl and anyone else that knows a good center in south california.
I am new to this forum but from what I read and since you are in LA I thought you’d be a great person to ask.
I am looking for hair removal, mainly facial and eventually the rest of the body. I have dark hair. Have done laser in canada and texas, the one in Canada was great but then one in Texas was waste of money, I didn’t get to continue as I keep moving. For now I will be setteled in LA hopefully and really want to start hair removal.
I don’t mind electrolysis for face as it seems to be more permanent and effective, right?!
Was wondering if you know of any good electrologist or laser center either in the Valley or in Pasadena area, I am sure you have been asked this question many times but it was very hard going through the whole forum to find an answer. I appreciate your time and help.
hi,
welcome to the forum. in order to assess your situation, you need to provide more details about what type of problem you have. where is the hair? what color? how coarse on each area? do you know the cause of the hair? what areas did you treat before with laser? what type of laser? how many treatments? do you know the settings? did you experience shedding? what is your skin type?
Hey lagirl I been in this forum for a little while,Im really desperate I been struggling with facial hair and body hair since I was fourteen,i’m now seventeen., I dont know if it’s because of shaving or not,but I would be happy If at least it went back to the way it was before.I know there’s alot of products out there but it can be confusing and I thought about laser and went to Sona medspa but they said it lasts for three years and sometimes you need to go back for retouchs;I heard in Seventeen magazine it’s permenant so I dont know if it is or not, plus im also scare that I might end up with scars or that it’s not gonna work and it will be a waste of money.please help me if you know of anithing that will be helpfull and like I said I would be happy if at least the hair just went back to the way it use to be.
If you are working on the face, find a good ELECTROLOGIST and get ELECTROLYSIS.
prettylips, shaving doesn’t cause the hair to be any different. you’re going through puberty and the change in hormones is causing it. first, you should schedule an appt with an endocrinologist doctor who can run some tests to see if everything is normal with your hormones, and if not, can prescribe medication.
in terms of removal, you didn’t provide enough information like the first poster here. please answer the same questions I posed for them. Then, we can help you figure out what is the best way to tackle it. Stay away from the national chain clinics. Before you get to a point of what place to choose, you need to do research to find out what would be best method in your case and what is causing the issue in the first place. From your post, it’s not even obvious that you have excessive hair since you didn’t provide us with enough information. As James said, electrolysis is often the better way for facial hair too, not laser. We’ll be waiting for your detailed response. Thanks.
Hi,
thanks for the quick response.
I have a mixture of fine and coarse hair and cause of shaving since that was required for laser some of the chin ones are more coarse now. the sideburns are a lot better the same with upper lip, but not the chin. I did it twice with the good laser clinic and then 3 times with the not so good one and didn’t see much of result with them, this goes back to 4,5 years ago and then I moved. I am also thinking it’s better to go for electrolysis for the face area and laser for other body parts. It would be nice to find a good place that does both.
Have you heard of Dr. Shaparak Kamarei? How about Dolly Norris at NorrisCenter?
Or any other good ones that you might know of.
Oh and I have dark hair and white skin but not too white. Oh and for the type of laser and setting i don’t remember unfortunately and I did have shedding the first few times. As for cause of the hair, mostly genetics I’d say.
please let me know if any other info might help.
Thanks.
shaving did NOT make your hair worse. It’s an old-wives tale. It was a combination of puberty/hormones and/or laser-stimulated growth if you treated hair that was too fine for laser.
Electrolysis is probably the best solution for you at this point, not laser. Laser only really works well on dark coarse hair like bikini and underarms. Female face is hard to treat with laser.
I don’t know any electrologists in the valley or in pasadena personally, but you can read the “how to find an electrologist” sticky post on the electrolysis section of this forum. There are many links to electrologists in your area. Then, you should have sample treatments with a couple, and choose the one that does the best job. You should read all you can about electrolysis on this forum so you know what kind of questions to ask and how to judge whether they’re good.
You didn’t specify how many hairs you think you have on each area, so it’s hard to judge whether you might have a hormonal issue you are not aware of. You can see an endocrinologist to make sure.
Hey it’s me again Im having problems with facial hair and body hair,on my face some hairs are light black in color and alittle bit long and not course but are visible. in my body the hairs are longer but still light black and visible i have olive pale skin. what do you think the best method of making them go back to the way they use to be is? or at least permenantly remove them is?;and do you know of something temporary I could use in the meantime that wont make the hair worse and do you think I should continue to use depilatories?.
Shaving would be the best, but most women refuse to shave their face. I wouldn’t wax my face if I were you, long-term bleaching and depilatory use can irritate the skin and cause the problem to worsen as well according to some sources.
Electrolysis would be a permanent solution, if you are motivated and find someone who is skilled.
There are plenty of choices, but only one permanent fix.
you need electrolysis if you want permanent removal. i would only shave or bleach as a temporary method. waxing can make the hair come back stronger and more coarse.
