Bumps with thermolysis

Hi
I have had thermolysis by two different practitioners in NYC … One of which posts here all of the time and was highly recommended and both times I had small raised bumps which lasted 48 hours!

I was planning to go to Lucy peters to try them too but now am reconsidering bc I am guessing the bumps are a known temporary side effect which I find unacceptable.

I have used multiple needle galvanic by two different highly skilled women and my skin was only red for about 5 mins after treatment (no bumps) … Actually my skin never looked. Better after just 5 weeks!

Of the two practitioners, one is retired and another is too far.

My questions are :

  1. does anyone have any experience with Lucy peters in NYC (thermolysis) or with Teri Iris in NYC ( mult needle galvanic)??
  2. Do all patients who have thermolysis get raised bumps (even if temporary)?

I am leaning toward galvanic as I have never had raised bumps with this modality… I have not tried LP yet.

Any other recs in NYC would b welcome!

Naturally, I highly recommend Lucy Peters. She offers a total treatment time guarantee also.

We’ve custom made her Probes for decades.

Are you kidding? If those raised bumps were only there for 48 hours, I would still call that an acceptable electrolysis side effect happening.

I will say that many of my clients are back to normal within minutes to hours and I use three different modalities of thermolysis. There are some cases that take more time to heal due to the nature of the situation in those beginning treatments.

You should stick to galvanic if that pleases you.

No matter how you chalk it up, you’re causing damage to your skin albeit with laser OR electrolysis, perfect face. Bumps for 48 hours is acceptable  trust me.

Try looking like a duck for three days after a 2 1/2 hour session on your upper lip and see how acceptable that is. I had half-way serious thoughts of moving to a leper colony as I waited for the swelling to subside. But subside it did.

I have two good quotes for you, Perfect face:

1.-If you have no skin reaction after electrolysis, was your machine turned on, or were you working on a corpse? (M. Bono)

2.- “No reaction, no results.”(Cecilia from Norway)

I completely agree with both!

The reason you have more reaction with thermolysis than with galvanic is because you electrologist kills 15/20/30 hairs per minute, whereas this number hardly reach 10 hairs per minute with galvanic.

Here is an illustrative example. In a boxing match, the boxer who gets more hits is who ends more swollen.

@PerfectFace: please let me suggest visiting Teri Iris first. You have felt well with multiple needle galvanic, You are willing to pay for its slower speed in the hope of reduced reactions. Then go ahead and try out Teri’s skills. If i were You I would visit Lucy only if i was dissatisfied with Teri’s work.

Despite of this a hint in German: von nichts kommt nichts.

Anyway: the redness and swelling from thermolysis fades away within a few hours to a few days depending on the intensity of the treatment.

BTW. examples and discussions of bad electrolysis treatment can be found here:

Even though raised bumps (edema) may be normal for a couple of days, it is not common in my experience. Some people are just more prone to it, but there also are the technique and the equipment factors. If there are raised bumps, they usually subside within a half hour. Say, up to 60 minutes to be safe.

I’ll cut you a deal:

You visit my office in Midtown and I clear your face for free. Then, you report back here if you had any bumps to begin with, and how many minutes they took to disappear.
How’s that?

Everyone reacts differently. Generally speaking post treatment skin reaction lasts a few minutes to a few hours (i.e. raised bumps, etc.) A small percentage of clients might experience mild post treatment skin reaction for a few days and this is normal for them.
