Bump On Upper Lip... From Electrolysis?

I been getting electrolysis on my eyebrows for about a year and a half. I am pleased with the results in that area. A couple months ago I started getting it on my upper lip. While it seems to be working ok, there has been a bump on my upper lip for over 6 weeks. At first I thought it was just an infected area or a pimple. I tried to squeeze it, but nothing comes out. It is painful and feels deep (sort of like when you get a pimple that is really deep under your skin).

My mom thinks that this was caused by the electrolysis. It is about the diameter of a pencil eraser. I basically have to wear makeup on that area because it is also red. It’s been there since my first treatment.

What could this be? How should I treat it?

I should probably add that I do not have oral herpes or any other virus that would cause this.

Thanks.

Without seeing you, it is really difficult to know if there is any connection. I gather that you have had several sessions, and as there is only one lesion, it seems unlikely. I know this answer is not very helpful. I suggest mentioning it at your next appointment.

Was this area ever overtreated? Oozing? Scabbing? The bump could be coincidental to something else. Maybe your electrologist could take a closer look under her magnification (hopefully, she has invested in good magnification) and see if she can spot an ingrown hair curling under the skin.

Did you heal well after your first treatment in this area?

Just a sidebar here:::: Sorry, Sherbet, but this is important.

I was singing that, but thanks goodness no one could hear me.

Enjoy your special day, King James.
