Blisters after laser (skin 5) - beard.

Hi all,
I am East Indian Skin type 5. I just got my 7th or 8th nd:yag treatment for beard. Settings: 30ms, 25Joule, 15Size.

I got a bit more swelling than usual. Also something which looks to me like blisters. There are 4-5 blisters. I shaved my beard before the treatment. and then they applied numing cream for 15-20 min, and then some gel on my face (before laser). I used to get some minor swelling before, and it used to be okay the next day. This time - it seems more than usual. My skin was a bit more tan than before. But that should not change anything, since the laser is yag (ideal for my skin type). I might have got a minor cut or 2 while shaving (done 1 hour before laser), and I suspect that blisters might have happened at same spot. May be due to reaction to the gel or numming cream.

I applied Hydrocortesin before sleeping. And not I removed it and applied Tea Tree Oil. Any help would be highly appreciated. thanks…

Please reply soon. Waiting for LAGirl’s feedback. Anyone else?

my session was yesterday, and this is my 2nd day (if I missed it)

The first thing you should have done is call your laser specialist and report the blisters. It’s not too late. They may want you to do something else. It should heal just fine, but do let them know. I’m sure that blistering can happen and they have their protocols.

thanks Dee. The blisters are slowly recovering. I have reported it to the clinic already. They said it can happen, and would need some time to recover. But its been 8 days already :frowning:

I am applying Hydrocortison and Polysporin cream. Just wondering if there is something I can apply to heal it faster and minimize scars!?!

Aloe vera gel comes to mind, as liberally and often as you want. Why do they think you blistered?

Can you post a photo?

If your skin is more tanned, then it may have had an impact. If those settings were fine for when your skin was a bit lighter, it doesn’t mean that they are ok for your current color.

If it looks like some light scabbing, it may be a slight superficial burn that will resolve itself. Treat it like any other burn, with aloe vera gel.

I would consult the clinic definitely. They may need to adjust teh settings if the skin color remains this dark.

… the reason why I got those burns was due to tanned skin. I visited Philippines last month, and got tanned! My tech used the settings as before… The skin is still recovering (scars left).

Cheers!

They’re not scars unless they stay for good. It’s just your skin healing right now.
