Blend or galvanic specialist in NYC

I come from a family of hairy women. Period. Because of our skin tone and past experience with thermolysis (disaster) and the nature of our hairs (fine to medium to a few coarse) we want to settle on either galvanic or blend modalities. We live in the NYC area. Money or time are not a limit, just no scarring! Any good referrals?

Thermolysis is the quickest method for this type of situation , but as you know skilled hands are vital ,with this modality. There are a couple of fantastic professional contributers on this site, and if I were you, I would check them out for another opinion. Being in NYC, you have more choices, so keep your options open, don’t rule anything in or out yet.

I hear you…I have tanned skin…And I used blend in all my treatments from my electrologist…I got hyperpigmentation from it and my skin would take long (2 weeks) to heal…

Now I am doing galvanic with my own machine…and after a couple of hours or maximum a nights sleep I see nothing of the area treated…
So I guess personally it is the High Frequency of blend that we with tanned skin are sensitive to and with that thermolysis ofcourse…

Yes, rough thermolysis hurt my skin and gave me brown little patches I am still dealing with. They were initially red and have slowly faded. They are still there 3 months later. Thank goodness they are epidermal! Whew. But anyhow, any referrals to someone qualified and expert in dealing with women of tanned complexions would be great. I am in NYC for the next 2 years. My family members are in Peru, Venezuela and Colombia. There are about 10 of us who’d seek treatment. So any good referrals are highly appreciated!

thx!

I just want to point out that it is not necessarily true that you would get that same reaction from ANY thermolysis done. I see that you are going to visit Arlene Batz. I am sure that she can do a test hair or two to show you that it is possible to do thermolysis without hyperpigmentation.

Give Arlene a Hello from me while you are there.

Im looking forward to working with her. Some of my hairs are too coarse and deeply rooted tho, so some of them might need some good blend or galvanic. Can this be done with insulated probes as well? I like the fact Arlene is also a NYS licensed Esthetician …thus she can help me restore my skin color while doing electrolysis!!! yay!

Yes, insulated probes can be used with blend. One just has to watch out that the insulation coating doesn’t get dissolved during a long appointment. Of course, you won’t know that, it is up to your practitioner to track that.

If my friends and East Coast clients ever convince me to move closer to Queens, I would spend much more time with my buddy Arlene. Not all of it on her treatment table, much to her relief.
