Bleaching coarse hand hair after LHR

Hi,

Sorry, I am posting this as a duplicate message, but here it goes.

I had laser done on my hands in the past, the regrowth is somewhat tufty and it looks strange. Especially under white light, from correct angle, hairs seems to be tiny bushes planted right on the skin. White light seems to really amplify the contrast between skin tone and the hair color, because my skin is very pale. I am looking for ways of fading this kind of look. Finally, it occurred to me that bleaching might work.

I don’t want white or gold blonde hairs. I just want a several shades lighter hair color, maybe light auburn.

Do you think bleaching may work for me? If you do so, which brand/product may be the best choice? Which shade of bleach should I use if I have different options? How often would I have to bleach? I am male, and a picture of my hand is below. My hair is coarse as you can see. How effective is bleaching on coarse hair?

Thanks for any help.

There is only one type of body hair bleach. It you leave it on for less time than instructed, it won’t get too light. 3-4 mins should work. Test it out on one small area. Coarse hair needs the bleach left on for longer periods of time, but you’re not trying to achieve blond look, so it won’t really matter for you.

Thanks,

I am completely new to bleaching, so what brands do you recommend?

I dont see anything wrong with your hair. Have you thought about trimming it with hair clippers?

Your hair seems pretty average from what I’ve seen around my area. However I know what it feels like to have a distorted self image, so when I had hair similar to yours, I just shaved it.

You might try a hair trimmer/groomer at a certain length.

Is there a reason you’re not continuing with your laser? I haven’t had a hair on my hand for years after finishing laser, so I would really urge you to keep it going (or find a new laser practitioner if your treatments didn’t produce any results).

Here’s my result time lapse:

There aren’t that many options in body bleach. You’ll find mostly Sally Hansen at the drugstore. I personally always preferred the ones that came with two tubes that you have to mix instead of those that come with tube, powder, etc. Less mess that way in my opinion. So I would look for that.

Keep in mind that bleach usually comes in pretty small packages as it’s not meant to be used on huge areas. So you’ll be spending quite a bit on this.

pdeco1, I also don’t see anything wrong with his hair pattern. But we’ve had this discussion here before and he feels that it’s obvious.

I perfectly agree. If it were someone else’s hand and I’d seen the picture and I’d think; what is this guy’s problem. But, in real life it looks different, at least I think this way. Maybe I have BDD (Body dysmorphic disorder) and I see little defects as major defects.

I don’t want complete hair removal. In fact, I am happy with the amount of hair, however I want an arrangement (displace hairs).

One other thing bothers me is that, because my hair is long, if the back of hand gets into contact with anything, all the hair point to different directions. I think LHR disturbed most of the hair so that hairs grow out towards unparallel directions. Trimming may help disguise this shabby look.

Thanks for all the advice.

lagirl,

Sally Hansen has two different products, sensitive (for face I guess) and extra strength. Because I don’t want totally blond hairs, which one should I buy? Can the mild one work for me?

I prefer other brands myself. The type that comes in two tubes instead of mixing powder and a tube.

For your purposes, I would just get the bigger box, which is body bleach. The one for the face is a pretty small package.
