black hair spots everywhere

so i just had my 7th treatment.

its now been week 4 and these black spots look like black pepper are still there, the hair doesnt seem to grow out so’s to fall out.

This was also the case with my 6th treatment.

Is this normal?

If a pic is necessary, let me know, ill go take one.

Area = Upper Back/Shoulders

sounds like you need to exfoliate. Its common to get ingrown hairs while doing electrolysis when hairs cant break through the skin. dry skin can act like cellophane wrap on the skin not allowing the fine hairs to break through. A picture would be good to make sure this is what is going on though.

Was this laser treatment that you had?

These pepperspots are pretty common and sometimes only go away during the next treatment (when they get burned off). Sometimes they just sort of fade as your skin experiences turnover but this can take a while. I agree that gentle exfoliation should help at least a little.

It’s kind of weird you still have enough hair to see pepperspots after 7 treatments though… You should be almost done at this point, I would have guessed. Upper back and shoulders are risky areas to treat due to induced growth, so please be careful and consider using electrolysis now that you’re reaching your maximum results with laser.

Pepperspots are normal and take longer to fall out or get burned off.

However, can you please post more information about your treatments? After 7 treatments, you should already not have that much to treat.

What machine is being used? What settings? How is shedding each time? How often are treatments spaced? How coarse and dense is the hair?

sorry for the delay, here is a pic of my back.

my 8th final treatment is on Monday.

Laser: GentleLASE
Settings: Unknown
Shedding: Dont really notice
Treatments: 6 week intervals
Coarse: Not coarse anymore, i dunno if its viewable from pic.

As i was coming to an end of laser after my 8th i need to know how to continue as im not happy with the end result currently.

I called 2 electrolysis places locally to set up like a consultation so i can get an opinion. After mentioning the area ont he phone, and having 8 sessions of laser both told me to not even bother as it would be expensive and useless. So i dont really trust those 2 and dont want to bother going in to even see them.

so based on the picture should i purchase 4 more sessions? Should i just go in for touch ups and make sure she only hits the areas that still have dark hair, as the light hair ones are useless to laser?

Those hairs are all fine. Laser can’t target them. You need to switch to electrolysis at this point.

It’s not about hair being dark. It’s has to be COASE AND DARK. If it’s not coarse, it can’t attract enough heat to disable the follicle.

Please add your location to your profile.

Kitranti- Laser is definitely not an option (at least not anymore). Your hair is so tiny and thin, the laser won’t give you any results! Electrolysis is what you need now, but sometimes electrologists aren’t interested in doing HUGE areas for some reason (I don’t get it, it’s more money for them).

Ive added my location to my profile.

But just to note, my location is: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

I had a list of 7 places, but the first 2 made me just feel like crap, their attitude was terrible. I should call the others tomorrow and try to set something up. Is it normal to go in for a consultation?

Also as i said i have one session of laser left, should i go? I paid for it already as i bought them in packages of 4. Or should i just ask for a refund on it?

BTW: LAGirl & MagicalPrincessKitty thanks for the help.

Why refund? It seem like it worked fairly good for you, most of the hair is either gone or fair, which is what should happen with laser for the most part, some areas react better than others though.

As others suggested, you could do more laser but it probably not worth it since you won’t achieve alot more than you already have and it will cost you alot more.

Why refund? It was a question and im asking if i paid for a session and i shouldnt bother taking it as it may cause more harm than good should i just give my money away?

Do you hand money out to people for free?

Do you have another area with coarse hair they can do 1 treatment on instead?

I do, so im clear though, using the last one on the back is a waste?

I was planning on doing my chest as well, so i guess i should just start now instead and find an electrolysis to do back.

Yes, if you treat the back it’s a waste of money or worse. Treating this particular area (male upper back and shoulders) when the hair is too fine to absorb the energy can actually induce more hair growth in many people.

If you’re planning to do your chest, definitely ask to use your last session on the chest (assuming the hair’s coarse/dark enough). If they value you as a customer, they’ll be fine with it.

Yes, I don’t think it’s worth doing another treatment on that back hair. It’s too fine. So use it on your chest instead.

However i really want to tan, i can tan and not affect electrolysis right? Because im reading 2 different things everywhere on tanning and electrolysis.

I understand its not a good idea for laser, but electrolysis?

Hey LAGirl is it ok for me to get these remaining hairs waxed for the summer before i start electrolysis or is that a bad idea? Cause i wanna enjoy a summer for once lol.

You can be tan for electrolysis and still get results because it isn’t based on the color of your skin. However, being tan naturally ISN’T the same thing as going out and GETTING a tan in between treatments. They do tell you repeatedly to stay out of the sun after each session. Sun exposure can make potential scars or pigmentation worse, so I assume this is why it’s not recommended for electrolysis (though there may be another reason too that I’m not aware of).

Going in the sun, sweating, and using lotions or products are the top three things they tell you NOT to do while you are healing.

EDIT: Yeah, you can get the hair waxed before starting electrolysis. That’s very common anyway for people whose electrologists only like to treat growing (anagen) hair. Just don’t wax or pluck ever again after the first session.

Sun exposure after electrolysis is discouraged because if a person is prone to pigmentation, the sun exposure will darken that pigmentation. Sun exposure also causes one to sweat, and that leads to “salt in the wounds” and accumulation of dirt, which can lead to infection and THAT can lead to scarring.
