What is the time range for a bikini clearance with electrolysis? I understand it depends on a variety of factors which is why I’m not looking for an average number but a range instead. I was browsing the forum and read up to 20 hrs in one thread. My guestimate was that it should be 4-6 hours with thermolysis (both underarm clearances took 2 hrs for me)?
Good question. My answer to zap was for the bikini line. If everything, it can be 20 to 25 hours to clear. Again, we need to keep in mind several variables as zap said. That can change things!
I was actually talking about the whole area and it seems like I severely underestimated! Just out of curiosity…my guess was that the bikini area has 4-5 times the amount of hair an underarm has but i guess I was wrong?! I’m surprised because we see numbers like 1 hr for an entire lower leg etc on this forum…
If any electrologist can do a one hour first clearance on an average leg of anyone under the age of forty, I will give them a thousand dollars and a cookie.
2-hours for one leg? I hope the following is “on-point” … but probably not. Anyway …
Sometimes clients have “selective hearing.” I have a new guy patient with a full back of hair. My consultations are thorough, as you can imagine. I told him that it will take me 10 hours for the first clearance of his upper back and shoulders (he does not have thick hair). At 8 hours, we were nearly finished and I commented that we were a bit ahead of schedule. He said: “Wait a minute, you said you could do my whole back in 10 hours!”
Now, this is a very smart guy (CEO of a large company in town). After our first 1-hour session don’t you think it was obvious what only ONE hour could accomplish? After 2 then 3, etc., hours? Couldn’t he figure this out himself?
My response was simple, I said: “I’m really sorry. I must not have explained this well-enough for you.” I got my checkbook and started to write. I said: “I’m returning all your money for the entire job so far. You will be fine, because now the upper back is half finished and it will blend-in with no problem.” (I never argue with patients, I return their money and stop working on them.)
I wish you could have seen his face! Total shock. He quickly said: “You know, I’m pretty sure that I made a mistake, I don’t listen very well. I think you are doing a great job and really want this finished. Can I please make another appointment?”
I said: “Sure, no problema!” (By the way, I have NEVER had a woman “pull” this kind of thing. It’s a guy thing and I’m used to it. ha ha ha Still, I always wonder what the goal is? I mean, I can’t go any faster damn it! One to 2 seconds per hair!)
Funny Michael, I call it “selective memory”. We all tend to remember only the positive things. I guess it must be a natural defense mechanism.
When a case comes to me as I will explain below, always warn my client, “If you tell your friends that both sides were done in an hour of electrolysis, also tell them that this is not normal, because they could feel disappointed if I do not get equal time”.
A paragraph here: a lower legs or forearms may need less time than a full pubis.
