Bikini Laser Hair Removal

So I finally found a place in my area that does the GentleLase and they are Therapie, which is a laser clinic specifically, so I’m assuming/hoping that will be good. I was going to get my full legs, underarms and a bikini.
My question is, when I get waxed I usually get a Hollywood but I don’t really want to take the step and be totally bald down there forever. Would it be wise to get maybe one or two Hollywoods, just to make that hair more fine and manageable, and then get Brazilians for the rest of my treatments? And then when I want to go Hollywood I can just get that area shaved or waxed?
Advice please!!!
Also, the deal I got was €555 for 3 sessions… does that sound reasonable, or am I being taken advantage of? The plan at the moment is to get in a few sessions before I move to America next February, and then I’ll finish up over there.

Oh just go for the whole thing! You’ll change you mind when you’re close to getting finished. You’ll be so smooth you’ll want it all gone.

I’m kind of scared that I’ll regret it or that it’ll just hurt waaaaaay too much in the inside though, so the Brazilian is partially me being a scaredy cat too.

Just a word of caution HairMeOut, once it’s all gone - it won’t grow back. I have a landing strip after LHR and I love it (I just shave any stragglers to keep all tidy there) and there is very little that grows around it now - I used to be VERY hairy there. Anyway, once it’s gone - it stays gone (for me it has but I’m happy with that).

Well what I was hoping was that one or two Hollywoods would make the regrowth of the Brazillian nice and fine, so it would be much more manageable? But in actuality would it be very patchy if I did that?

I’m not an expert, but I love it all gone. I would think that it would be patchy. My tech tells me that a lot of women start out like you thinking that want to leave some, but end up wanting it all off. If you really want to leave a strip, i think you should just not do the strip at all.

A top Laser expert said that the labia area will not be permanently removed by laser. It is posted somewhere on this site. Also beware that what gets removed and what remains is unpredictable so you can get patchy results which can look rather odd.

Think you’re approaching sensibly ie worst case it’ll be thinner/finer hair andyou are not talking about leaving a large area so it probably wouldn’t look that patchy. I considered doing that then figured I’d just go all in - after 4 treatments there’s still regrowth that is considerbly thinner/softer, bit not weird/patchy looking. Could prob change my mind now and still retain something.

Ps: not sure what is the male equivilent of landing strip… Possibly scratching post

Mother of GOD the Hollywood was painful. She said the settings were 22J on 15 Spot. That was for the Hollywood and Underarms. However on my legs she did 18mm with a 14J which actually was soothing. I actually fell asleep for a minute and then she had to wake me up to move my leg. Mortified! Are those settings ok? I would have loved for her to step it up on the legs, but since it was my first go she wasn’t comfortable. Is 14 J high enough to have an impact at 18mm? I’m between type 1 and 2…
I’m still undecided about switching to a brazilian. Though in reality the moment I either get pregnant or hit menopause it apparently comes all back, so technically it won’t really be permanent anyway…

Also, how long realistically should it take to get all three of those areas treated by a GentleLase at those settings? My appointment was about 50 minutes but in reality that included me getting changed and also at one point the machine ran out of DCD, and basically the very beginning, and the cannister had to be warmed up and reloaded, which I’d estimate at roughly 10 minutes, so maybe closer to just under 40 minutes being treated, because that also includes applying aloe vera afterwards and getting dressed and paying? I think she said I had roughly 230 pulses for the full legs… am I being undertreated possibly?

Just finishing up the second clearing of a patient’s back. He did laser on the front 6-weeks ago and it looks like this. The remaining hairs are firmly attached. Comments?

14J on 18mm is fine for now, but hopefully your tech will go up to 16J. Just under 40 minutes seems a little fast, but doesn’t some totally unreasonable. The 230 pulses sounds too few for the full legs, so either it’s not 230 or she missed a ton of spots (which would be impressive if she spent a long time on your legs).

Michael, at 3-4 weeks after his laser treatment, was hair already growing back in that pattern? If yes, that suggests to me that the laser tech missed a bunch of spots.

Michael, that looks like a plumber doing some electrical work with a plunger. Can only speak to my own personal experience, where I had a legit laser and technician, resulting in virtually no areas missed or that didn’t shed.

Laser is fast & they can cover a lot of ground in a hour. Btw, my tech also drew grids to help ensure coverage.

The girl also drew a grid on my legs but it was a pretty generous one, so I’m kind if thinking next time I go in I might draw my own, but a little bit smaller? Would that be kind of rude though to the technician? The last thing you want to do is irritate the lady who already has your money and is wielding a laser…

Thanks for the comments.
The guy will be going back in a couple weeks …
Yeah, I didn’t think this “looked right” at all!

That the possibility of designing a natural pattern have vanished. The only option here is to remove all the hairs completely. I’m afraid you still have a few hours of work “ahead.”

Well, the picture submitted is not a bikini line as the title of this thread suggests, but the hair that was missed on this mans chest can be treated with more laser and all should be fine.

Haha, well Dee that is because I was looking for advice on my own laser hair removal of my bikini area, and Mr. Bono appears to have hijacked my thread! Does anyone know if getting the full leg, hollywood and underarms could be done reasonably well in roughly 40 minutes? It was a GentleLase on 18mm and 14J for my legs(no breaks taken), and 15mm on 22J for the underarms(no breaks) and the same on the Hollywood, except for a few parts of it she just did it a little bit slower? Firing 6 pulses and then giving me one second breaks. I’m only 4 days post treatment so obviously there has been no shedding yet, but since the legs were so unbelievably comfortable and the underarms provided no problem, I am worried as to what to expect. The Hollywood was pretty rough at that settings though, but I’m willing to follow the “no pain, no gain” motto and as long as there is no burns, I’ll just buy some stocks in Aloe Vera! No harm in starting a portfolio… :stuck_out_tongue:

If it helps, I’m not particularly tall… 5’5 and roughly 123 pounds… so it’s not like they are supermodel legs that stretch for days! Unfortunately. :S

Oye … sorry about the “hijacking.” I thought all your questions had been answered. I was too lazy to start a new thread and thought this “laser thread” might be okay to “jump in.” Looks like I was wrong. Hope you get what you are seeking …
