bikini area

So I was on a swim team when I was around 13, and started shaving my bikin line at this time. Well over time the hair just seemed to be growing further and further down my leg, and now I swear I have dark ugly hair more than halfway down my thigh. It’s about 4-5 inches horizontally across 6-8 inches down my thigh and I’m so sick of it! All the rest of the hair on my thighs is blonde. I’m also confused because everyone says that shaving doesn’t cause hair to grow in thicker, but then how would you explain this? The hair only grew darker and thicker as I shaved further and further down. Does anyone know what’s wrong with me?!?

the hair would have grown in anyways. it had nothing to do with shaving and it’s been proven many times. the reason people attribute it to shaving is because you start shaving at an age when you’re just starting to develop hair. so as more and more hair develops (that would have developed regardless), you assume it’s because you’re shaving it. rather, it’s because you are going through puberty.

there is nothing wrong with you. you can get waxed or continue shaving for temporary removal, or you can look into laser to get it permanently removed.

My pubic hair grows on my leg too. I just keep it off everytime I shave down there. Its not a big deal to me

I am a girl and I have thick, coarse dark hairs on my bikini, perianal area (around the anus) and inner thighs— it extends into my legs almost on all sides but it isn’t as dense. I don’t think it’s THAT unusual either… You just have to learn to deal with it. There are many options for you to get rid of the hair. Based on my experiences…here is what I think works and doesn’t work well on those areas.

Depilatory creams definetly are not a good option for this area because they don’t give you a smooth feeling, can cause irritation, and don’t get rid of all the hair.

Waxing-- I used to do that for about 2 years but then gave up because during the time I was waxing the area was always red, bumpy, and developing ingrowns as the hair attempted to grow back in. Also, it never gave a completely smooth feeling-- there were always a tiny bit of stubble.

Rotary Epilator- similar experience to waxing… I gave up after the first time.

Shaving- Although I don’t like it, it is so far the best. I have to do it often and have to follow a good routine but at least it gives me a smooth feeling, doesn’t cause ingrowns, and area looks clean and normal.

If you have light skin and dark coarse hair, laser is great. I had it done on bikini when I was in a similar situation and it worked great. Bikini and underarms are some of the easiest to treat because the hair is so coarse. And it’s really not that expensive if you compare it to waxing. I paid $100 for bikini (everything around a thong) and $100 for underarms per treatment (I’ve seen lower prices for underarms as well). It was very worth it. I had about 6 treatments on each. Best money I’ve spent.

And how permanent have you found it to be?
Was it very painful?

Depending on which part of bikini area you are talking (I had everything done there) and how well it was numbed, it can be rather unpleasant - we usually have to pause a couple of times to ice down the really sensitive areas.

It’s painful, but tolerable. Plus, you can use a numbing cream - I didn’t. I had very good results. 95% minimum gone and it’s been over a year. Click on the link below my name to read my entire experience.
