Best way to treat hypopigmented scars created after laser mole removal

Hi,

I had some moles that were not flat and I didn’t like them very much so I searched about some ways to remove them, found a clinic and remove them with laser around 10 years ago, but it didn’t go well, there were white spots with a bit of volume in place of the moles, like this 3:

Basically what I don’t like is the volume (the scars are not flat) and the white color.

Do you know some solution/approach that can help on this case?

Thanks

A dermatologist could have a non-invasive solution for you, otherwise cutting them out could be an option. Once cut out, silicone and other post-care treatments at home could greatly minimise any scarring so that it looks almost like nothing happened.

Your best bet is to speak with a dermatologist.

Hi!

Thanks for your feedback! I already went to some dermatologists because of some other skin issues and when I ask them abou these scars they always say that there is nothing to do! So that’s why I asked the question because it’s something that I would really like to improve and when I research there seems to be some things that can be done that even if they don’t solve it 100% at least maybe can improve the aspect!

In case of cutting them out probably the scar will be also white but the benefit probably would be that the scar would be more flat?

Thanks!

That’s very strange that a dermatologist wouldn’t offer any solution to at least reduce the appearance. You might have a better experience with a cosmetic doctor or a more aesthetically-focussed dermatologist.

This scar tissue is already 10 years old and well established, but a lot of scar minimisation works better for newer scarring. The idea behind cutting them out is to remove the existing scar tissue and then closely manage and minimise the new scar with treatment like silicone pads, steroid injections and others. You would still have a scar in the end, but the hope is that it would be much less raised and discoloured than your current scars.

I would seek a medical opinion from someone with specific experience in scar removal.

Hi! Thanks! Yes but it’s the experience I’m having, the doctors I went to said that with white scars there’s nothing to improve them.

Will see if find some doctor specialist in scars, but it’s not easy already searched a lot, both dermatologists and plastic surgeons but based on their websites it seems that don’t have much experience, some websites refer scars but without explaning which techniques would use to treat and also don’t present befores and afters regarding scars treatment. Some of the doctors I went also had that on the website but then said that, that regarding white scars there is nothing to do.

Maybe other way to search for a doctor that can help in this case is to check if they have some laser or so that can help in this case. Do you know if for this case of these scars on the image (white scars with some volume after laser mole removal) the CO2 would be the most appropriate?

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

Hey! I hope this message finds you well.

I’m reaching out again because I’m still struggling with the scars from my laser mole removal procedure. I’ve tried several treatments this year, including Resurfx, Pico laser, Fraxel, and ablative CO2 laser, but unfortunately, I haven’t seen any improvement.

I’m feeling quite discouraged and would greatly appreciate your advice. While I know complete removal might not be possible, even just the flattening the scars would make a huge difference in my self-esteem. And the flattening/smoothing of the scars doesn’t seem something imposible to reach. However, its been really tough to find solutions for this.

I’ve been researching additional options, such as punch excision, ultra fractional CO2 laser, surgical CO2 laser, microplasma radiofrequency, microcoring, dermabrasion, ablative non-fractional laser, cryotherapy, and Ellman Surgitron. I’ve also heard mixed opinions about steroid injections and Surgitron, some doctors saying that Ellman would be a really nice option, while others saying that Ellman doesnt make sense for existing scars and would be better steroid injections.

I’m feeling overwhelmed by the number of options and unsure which would be the most effective for my specific case. I’m even open to traveling to another country for treatment if I can find a nice professional that I fell I can trust. And just remembered to send you message again!

I’m hoping you could provide some guidance on which treatments might be worth considering and if you know of any clinics or doctors in any country, I’m in Portugal but Im open to go to another country where I can find a doctor/clinic tha tI trust and work and live there while I do the treatments!

Thank you so much for attention once again!
