Are there any websites that have before and after pictures of laser hair removal on darker skinned patients? Seems like there are many clinics posting here, and I would hope some can share. Thanks.
Do a web search for Eliot Battle, M.D., tembo.
IMO, before/after pictures for hair removal are useless. Anyone can wax an area and say that this is the after picture…
Doesn’t get you anywhere with that…
Definitely. However, burn pictures might be enlightening :S
Burns can happen either because the technician isn’t skilled enough (or the machine is not right for your skin type to begin with) or because the customer didn’t pay attention and spent too much time in the sun.
From experience, i had people before doing treatment without telling me they just came back from vacation while it was impossible to tell by their skin that they were in the sun, that when burns happen.
I agree with Odi. Anyone can post a photo and say whatever they want. There is no way to check.
Also, burn photos are not indicative of anything. It’s more important to post a photo after a burn has healed, but in that case there is nothing to see (which is the point).
Interesting that the two laser people would not trust pictures.
Dee, thanks for that name. I remember reading about him before.
I am even interested in pictures from happy patients and not just from clinics.
Of course any of the laser or electrolysis practitioners posting on here can also lie about their success rates, so if you think that all the photos are fake, why do you think all the posts are not fake?
Photos are easy to fake, just because there is no way you can tell how long after the initial treatment the photo is taken anyway. I usually have a hair free period of around 8 weeks after a laser session. This means that my skin looks fantastic after a laser session. That doesn’t mean that I am completely, 100% hair free forever. It just means that I just had a session… That is why you can’t trust pictures. You don’t know how long after treatment they are taken.
You kinda have to trust word of mouth - take it with a grain of salt, etc, but it’s a good guide. I also tend to trust research papers.
The other thing is that no two people are alike. Skin colour, hair colour and area are all factors to take into consideration, but there are more - underlying medical conditions and hormone inbalances that might affect how hair regrows. It’s a really difficult assessment.
And I think burn photos are good… it reminds you not to lie about whether or not you’ve recently been in the sun
I have progress pictures in my thread. I always mention how many weeks after the last treatment they were taken and when I last shaved the area (if I did).
If people are going to believe in what you have written anyway then pictures are really helpful to see what kind of progress can be made.
Who is a “laser” person here? I’ve had both laser and electrolysis done successfully and recommend both.
I said I wouldn’t trust photos from someone who has something to gain, not an actual unbiased consumer. I have a photo of my underarm on the forum.
You have to be careful as well because there’s a trick that before/after pictures ALWAYS seem to use, which isn’t lying at all. They show a picture before, but then they show “1 month after only ONE session” or they might have a bit more of a conscious and say after 3 or more sessions.
The problem is that 1 month after a laser session you should be 100% hair free! Even the fine hair! So they’re not lying, that really is a picture of someone 1 month after 1 session looking all smooth. The problem is that the pictures never say “After picture of patient 1 year after their 6th and final session”.
