I’m having my first electrolysis session next week and I’m already quite anxious. The operator’s going to use galvanic, which requires a certain level of moisture to work at its best, isn’t? With this in mind, my initial idea was to drink roughly 8 glasses of water the day of the appointment and the previous one, as well as use some moisturizing cream on my face the night before. But then it occurred to me that if I have ‘too much moisture’, the current might produce an excessive amount of lye which could be damaging or even scarring. What would you recommend me to do?
People still use galvanic? I mean I know it works but I didn’t realize people still perform professional treatments with it. Just stay hydrated the day before and the day of your appointment. It sounds like you’re really overthinking this. Just stay hydrated, get a good night’s sleep the day before your appointment, and that’s pretty much it (oh, avoid caffeine too just because it makes you more sensitive to treatment)
I’m from Argentina and there are barely any electrologists here :(. All you find is laser or IPL, which I wouldn’t have because they’re not permanent and they could cause serious side effects. Since I had very limited options and no references about them, I decided to go with the one from the most reputed aesthetic center, and she does galvanic. I did find a lady who uses thermolysis, but I saw some pictures of her work on a woman’s chin and it looked overtreated. Anyway, I’m OK with galvanic being slow as long as it’s safe and effective.
Ah ok, didn’t realize you were in a different country. Galvanic is extremely slow, but I hope it works out for you. Good luck!
MNG or multi-needle galvanic is much more common than you might think Brenton. We supply many MNG operators in the US and it is even more common outside the US. Yes, its slow, but is extremely effective, and has almost no side effects.
Out of curiosity, is there a particular geographical region in the US where MNG is more prevalent? I’ve only come across one electrologist in California that even offers it whereas everyone else I’ve come across out here does blend or thermolysis.
I’d say its more common in the west but they’re scattered across the US
I am in NYC and still use MNG and still administer the various techniques of Blend and Thermolysis. Its absolutely all good. Since I am located in a city that is the new home to so many immigrants, they come to me with some electrolysis experience and some information from their prior homelands.
I do what they want and ask them to give me an opportunity to administer thermolysis - just for a couple of minutes. Most of the time, they switch to thermolysis.
Regarding moisture: with galvanic, the activity occurs where there is most moisture. Dry skin is okay; just drink your 8 glasses or limit diuretics.
sorry…
drink your 8 glasses of water AND limit diuretics
was rushing
better yet, Drink 64 ounces or more of water per day, limit diuretics, AND increase one’s minerals Especially Electrolytes. Hint, green vegetables have minerals, fruits have minerals. Gatorade only has 3 minerals, powerade 6 and one of them is salt. A fresh pressed green juice would be much more powerful.
