Beard Electrolysis

During my consult, in addition to a verbal guideline, I give everyone an aftercare instruction sheet that I wrote up (and I have a stack of them in a conspicuous place for them to grab one later on if they want to, as well as on my website).

Basically, I tell people that it’s a minor skin wound and the most important thing is to keep it clean afterward. Don’t touch the area unless you wash your hands first and if you get it dirty, just use mild soap and water, and that if they need to apply something to protect or make the skin feel better, aloe, witch hazel, etc are perfectly fine. IMO, the more you try to force the skin to heal faster, the more damage you are likely to cause.

I just finished writing essentially the same.

I just finished my first session. We went for an hour. I got most of my neck cleared and she started on my chin and cheeks. The pain level was so much better compared to laser. This was a breeze. She used numbing spray and I hardly felt a thing. I am very pleased with this first session. I was a little red afterwards. I’ll try to post a picture if I remember to.

What numbing spray did she use and how long did you have to wait for it to become effective?

I had my first clearance on the back last week. Upper flanks were somewhat tolerable but for lower back, I had to ask her to stop after 30 minutes of work. The pain was too much to handle. She has no ice so it makes it worse.
In the past, when I treated stomach with another electrologist, we used ice for pain management and I would last 1:30 hours per session. I don’t know what I will do without pain management.

I believe it was this one. I was in hardly any pain so I am not sure if it was mostly due to the numbing spray or a high pain tolerance but I wouldn’t do a treatment without this just in case.

I need to schedule my next appointment. Would a 2 week interval be okay?

I still have not shaved since last week. Would it be okay to shave 3 days after my appointment? I have not had any major side effects. I do have a couple white heads but other than that, nothing has gone wrong.

Two or three weeks is fine to schedule another appointment, if you got cleared of the BOTHERSOME hair after the last session. If you didn’t, then you can go back much sooner and continue the hair removal process.

Some electrologists don’t mind if you shave. I am one of them, but I much prefer clipping the hair close to the surface, with cuticle scissors. That way, you don’t dislodge hairs that we need to flag where the hair follicle is so we can treat the follicle.

White pustules disappear after a warm shower or after applying a warm CLEAN compress. I like dabs of tea tree oil after facial work on some clients to prevent this. Don’t fret. White pustules are temporary skin manifestations that leave no lasting side effects. Tell your electrologist that you had a few and she or he can offer guidance.

Numbing spray

A client of mine insists on using it in her private area (butt crack) . She said it helps a lot. For me, it creates a slippery environment that makes the work more challenging than it already is. I don’t see how the numbing agents penetrate to the nerve endings as fast as she says it does (the skin is a barrier that keeps things out), but she swears by it and I support her anyway. She has used Solarcaine and Dermoplast. She is hair-free now so that is all that matters!

I have an appointment next monday. I have experienced almost no hair regrowth since my last session. When can I expect hair to grow back to get treated?

I had my 2nd session of electrolysis this morning. The appointment was around 2 hours and 45 minutes. I got a full clearing of neck, chin, cheeks, and upper lip. A little redness but that went away after an hour or so. My skin looks a little bumpy but other than that, it looks great. I am so excited for my next session. Also of note, my electrologist said she removed 1,073 hairs today. Upper lip was extremely uncomfortable and I felt like I was gonna sneeze for about 15-20 minutes.

bet your eyes watered with the upper lip, its okay! Everyone’s does !

Seana

I had my 3rd session today and 2nd clearing overall. The pain was more intense this session compared to last. Not quite sure why. The session was in total, 2 and a half hours. I am very pleased with my progress so far. Upper lip was about half of the pain from last time so hopefully that means I won’t have as much work to do on that dreaded upper lip. I paid $100, and I have paid $240 total for my 3 sessions.

My next session and 3rd clearing is schedule for April 11th. When should I expect to see visible reduction?

2 1/2 HOURS for $100? Wow, that is a bargain, especially considering you seemhappy with the results. Consider putting up a referral to point others in your area to a good electrologist!

Yep. 2 1/2 hours for $100. She’s so nice and I haven’t experienced any negative side effects from her treatment. Where would I put up a referral?

I went through your old posts and saw that you were located in ND. I wish prices were like that in SoCal!

Today I had my fourth electrolysis session, third clearance. I am not sure why but clearances two and three were the most painful. I didn’t shave four about 12 days before this session and I was worried she wasn’t going to be able to clear my whole face as there was more hair today than the two previous sessions, but she did a good job and got it all done. I am hoping that this session is a turning point. Today my upper lip was extremely sensitive and I had the sensation like I needed to sneeze for about fifteen-twenty minutes. Overall, this clearance took two hours and forty five minutes and cost $115.

The sneezing reflex kicks in on almost everybody. I tell my clients to just expect it to have and I shove a tissue in their hand. It usually happens in the midddle, right under the nose.

Glad to hear you are getting cleared.Expect more hair cycles to click in as you are early in the game. That is neat that you know the insertion count, but keep in mind that insertions made do not equal hairs removed. Some follicles need a couple zaps to make it give up.

Her prices are fantastically low.
