Bad luck with laser

Well just to start my skin type is 3-4. Areas being lasered are back and shoulders.

So far ive done 6 treatements with the syneron comet diode machine. And this has yielded no results whatsoever. I decided to shop around for a better place and came accross the Candela Gentlelase. I went it for a test patch and just from that had better results then all six of my sessions with the comet machine combined. Since the results were so good i commited and bought an 8 session package for back n shoulder. However I went in for my first visit 6 days ago, and ive noticed that the results from it were not near as good as my test patch. I had the test patch a month ago done. I know its been a short while to tell but still some of the hairs are growing through the skin now and are in ther hard not easily falling out like before. I called and they assured me theyre useing the same high settings they did on the test patch. What could be the reason for this? Should I be concerned? And what settings would be best?

the settings were 18mm spot size, 20J/cm2 ***

also im italian decent however im not naturally that dark skinned just a medium olive but kinda on the pale side with dark course hair.

Six days after treatment you aren’t going to know anything about long term reduction yet. It appears you are more or less speaking about how much of the hair has shed. Basically, when you get your laser treatment, 90% of the hair should shed and fall out. It may take a few weeks for it to do so and you’ll have pepper spots in the meantime.

Even after a month it is too soon to know your permanent reduction. If you lasered a given area, you would have to wait at least 3 months IMO for you to realize what type of long term results you may have received.

If not much of your hair sheds in the next few weeks, I would ask for another treatment or address that concern with your tech at that time. Be advised that in my personal experience, the amount of hair that shed was different. For example, my upper back seemed to have more hair that shed than my shoulders did. Not a real significant difference, but it was noticeable.

You need to wait 3 weeks. Shedding doesn’t usually start until week 1 or 1.5. The hair is likely coming out to shed, not growing right now. It just looks lik that.

So even though the hair feels strong it could still be about to shed? I took tweezers to a few and they feel strong in the root still they arent coming out with ease.

Yes, it’s too early to tell. You need to give it 2-3 weeks.
