Back hair treatment schedule

Hi all,

I have undergone 5 LHR treatments for my back so far and I have experienced a reduction of hair coarseness throughout the area of growth which I am pleased about.

However, looking at the FAQ here and other places it is suggested to wait up to 12 weeks between treatments for the back, because hair takes longer to grow there compared to other places on the body.

As the hair was taking longer to grow back each time I decided to take longer breaks in between treatments to see 1) if the procedure was really working and 2) to let as much hair grow until meeting its lasered end for better effectiveness.

My treatment schedule went as follows -

TX 2 (8 weeks between 1st and 2nd treatments)

TX 3 (10 weeks, 5 days between 2nd and 3rd)

TX 4 (12 weeks, 1 day between 3rd and 4th)

TX 5 (20 weeks, 1day between 4th and 5th)

Now, my question is should I wait until 24 weeks before my final treatment or should i bring it forward to 20 weeks or less closer to the recommended growth time between treatments for greater effectiveness?

As I am writing this it has been 15 weeks since my last session. And the hair growth has slowed down, the density is the same all throughout but the hairs are fine and less coarse. Less hairs per follicle everywhere.

Thanks for reading

It sounds as though you’re reaching the point at which LHR will no longer be cost or time effective. As you continue treatments, the clinician must increase the intensity of the laser within the safety parameters for your skin and hair.

Anything longer than twelve weeks seems far too long unless there is very clearly not enough growth to justify a treatment. Even then, the laser energy is able to target hairs that are growing underneath the skin yet to break past the surface.

You probably won’t gain much more past six to eight treatments in total if you wanted to elongate the treatment plan. Evaluate the results at least two months after your final treatment and then find an electrologist to thin the area out if you would like to see further results.

Hi thank you for responding. I have now had my sixth treatment and I am planning to finish up with electrolysis on the coarser areas left on my back.

Admittedly, I was apprehensive about suffering paradoxical hair growth (close to the shoulder areas & lower back) and skeptical about the results of LHR, which is why I let so much time in between treatments to see if I was truly receiving sufficient results. Specifically in between the 4th-5th and 5th-6th treatments.

I can confirm that there was a noticeable reduction between the 5th and 6th treatments and will wait at least 6 months to see what I’m working with before starting electrolysis.
