Back hair – the beginning of…

Hi guys,
I want to remove hair from my back that only recently started growing, however – should I wait for it to grow, or can I start right now?

I’m a 27 y.o male, yet I can tell you that when I was 16 I had my first laser test on my chest to check my “compatibility” to the treatment – the hair that was removed was very thin. After that, the tested area (1.5cm sqr) remained smooth to this day! About 8 years after, after the entire area grew thicker hair (except for where the laser was first tested 8 years earlier) I started laser-removing the hair from the entire area. This resulted in much fewer hairs (and also thinner).

How is it related to my back hair?
Recently, I noticed that few coarse hairs started to grow on my back. At the moment I cut those with small scissors (don’t pluck it out, since I read that grow worse after). My Q is: if most of my hairs are tiny and thin, and now they start to grow – is it better for me to start treatments right now or wait for them to grow thicker?

Remember that 8 years ago the test had wonderful results on those small, thin hairs (maybe my hormonal levels have changed since then, though).

BTW - i have NEVER heard of a man who had permanently removed his back hair with laser\IPL (have heard and seen significant reduction though)- what do you know about it?

If you only have a few hairs on your back and are unsure if they are thick enough for laser, I would recommend electrolysis.

It will be quick work and you can start now.

I think you answered your own question, a single test patch permanently killed the hair for you.

If you read Success Stories thread here, you’ll see plenty of people who got permanent results on their back. Laser doesn’t care about the body area. All it sees is the TYPE of hair. If the hair is coarse enough, it will kill it because it has enough pigment to absorb enough heat. It doesn’t matter what body area it’s located on. Many men don’t have coarse enough hair and still choose to treat it, thus the lack of results for some.

Either way, you describe a situation where you have individual coarse hairs and not a bunch of dense growth. I would recommend electrolysis for those hairs.
