back and shoulder hair removal

I’m a guy in my 20’s and am very hairy. I have fairly light skin with black hair all over my body. And I’m tired of trimming the hair every 2 weeks. Lately I’ve been thinking about getting laser hair removal on my back and shoulders. There are a whole bunch of clinics that pop up when I do a search. I live in northern Cali and was wondering where’s a good spot for this to go to? and where they have the best machine for the job?

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Your situation sounds like mine, so I recommend the Candela Gentle Max laser. I have seen good results on myself and reported in this forum. Go to their website, enter your zip code, and a list of nearby clinics offering the laser will appear.

I also recommend taking pictures to help you assess your progress. If you feel comfortable, please post them here.

How much hair reduction have you experienced so far using the candela laser?

It’s tough for me to give an accurate statement on reduction. I’ve been having appointments for the past few months so I only see what hairs are present 8-9 weeks after a treatment. As I said, my results SEEM good, but I have no idea if I am getting a complete picture and how permanent the hair loss will be.

So, bearing that in mind, I have had about an 85% visible reduction from before my first appointment to now. The areas that have been the most successful are my shoulders and back of my neck – two places that I thought would be iffy, but where I really wanted results. There is almost no hair left in either region.

I’m happy to advise you if you have more questions. Just keep in mind that I can only represent my own experience and that my results have not stood the test of time.

How many treatments have you had so far?

I’ll probably going to go with the gentlemax laser.

Thanks for the info and hope it works for the best.

I went to a free consultation today where they use the gentlemax laser. It’s one of the top dermatology places in my town.

The nurse was very informative. She said the results are not permanent and there are people who still go there even after 15 treatments. She explained about the side effects if anything doesn’t go as planned and about the whole procedure. She said maybe after 6 treatments there maybe be 50% hair reduction. And plus she said it can get very expensive because they don’t offer package deals.

I think she was trying to convince me to think twice about the procedure before I make up my mind.

Results are permanent on the hair that can be impacted (coarse dense growth). The rest needs to be treated with electrolysis because it’s too fine. There is no point of coming in for 10, 15, 20 treatments. If good settings are being used from the start and you dinimishing returns after treatment 6,7, it’s time to switch to electrolysis.
