Arlington, VA/Washington, DC Electrologist Recommendation?

All,

I live in Arlington, VA - just a couple miles south of Washington, DC.

I’ve searched all HairTell forums (even the premium forum) and haven’t found “recommendations” per se for electrologists in Arlington or the District.

Can anyone recommend an electrologist in the Arlington or in the District? (I prefer NOT to go north beyond the District into Maryland, or in the “southern” part of Northern Virginia such as the Dulles area.)

 Thanks!
 Tina

Yeah, me too. Though I need a place in the “Land 'O Jerry Fallwell” , Lynchburg, VA.Have good results w/LHR, but some areas LHR can’t reach (perianal, scrot, some penis areas, and nipples) . Would appreciate some help here.

Wow… no responses to any of these Arlington/Va referral threads from two years ago?

Just wanted to bump this - because I would love to find an elecrologist in this area based on referral. I’ve gone to Lucy Peters (in New Jersey) a few years back. Probably only did about 6 or 7 sessions but had to stop because of the cost. (and it was also horrendously painful). Didn’t see any real results unfortunately, but I know I had to go more times probably.

So looking to start it back up again with an electrologist in the Northern Va area.

Please read the “How to find an electrologist” thread in the electrolysis forum. You can easily find a good one yourself by testing a couple out. Look for someone using thermolysis and one of the newer machines like Apilus, and someone who leaves your skin perfect afterwards and where the hairs slide out without resistance after being zapped.

Thanks Lagirl. I’ve had electrolysis done in the past. The last time was at Lucy Peters a few years back. A painful and wallet-depleting experience. I probably would’ve seen results had I continued to go, but I ran out of funds after about 8-9 sessions. (plus I couldn’t deal with the pain!) Not to mention, the rashes I would break out in the day after were so severe I had to stop the treatments to let my skin heal, or else I’d be dealing with scarring.

Anywho - I know there are plenty of good electrologists in my area and I know to look for those that are certified…I was just hoping I could find a referral. I think referrals work wonders in this field.

I did find this lady online below, but it’s a bit far. Her credentials look worth it, though.

Unfortunately, it’s really impossible to tell how good they are from credentials. You really need to have a sample treatment which most electrologists will provide, sometimes free. The experience you had before is definitely not typical. And that electrologist has gotten similar feedback before here.

Really, start by at least calling a couple that you find through yelp.com, citysearch.com or just Google, and ask what type of electrolysis they perform, what machine they use, and how many year’s of experience they have. That will already narrow your choice down significantly.

This seems like a good place to point out that we ask that everyone on the forum find their provider’s name in the referral section, and post some feedback on that practice. If your practitioner is not listed, add them! Most people seem to believe that their input doesn’t count, or won’t be anything significant. Of course, they don’t realize that their particular spot in the world is the very place someone else is searching for information about, and will find nothing unless YOU post it there.

It is either that, or you all pony up for me to take a few years off, and travel the world getting sample treatments and consultations everywhere I can find. Oh, yeah, even then, I wouldn’t be able to FIND EVERYBODY any better than you guys can, because people are not lending a hand on this feedback thing. DOH!
