has anyone had experience with electrolysis on the areola area? ive been doing laser but i think it may have sprouted more hair. does electroylsis on this area often leave a lot of scarring? how will it look after treatment?
and, who is a good electrologist on long island?
I have had both laser and electrolysis on my areolae. Laser was first. I think that the laser was dialed down due to the darker pigment there. Hairs fell out, but seemed to return. So I switched to electrolysis. I suspect that some hairs needed one or more treatments, but most seem gone. I had another treatmemt last week, after a pause of perhaps six months. There were a few there, which were removed. Today they look terrific (naturally, the hairs were removed!) Will they look as good in six more months? I hope so, because this is great!
Male or female, nobody likes nipple hair!
Good luck.
A good electrologist can treat the hair around the nipple hair successfully without scarring, and usually can be done in minutes (5-15 is often quoted here, if I remember correctly.) If it is just hair around the nipples you want removed, electro would probably be cheaper and faster than laser.
My knowledge of downstate is a bit limited, but if you are willing to drive to Great Neck there is the Advanced Electrolysis Clinic owned by the legendary Fino Gior. I have not been there myself, but I believe James knows Fino and he can tell you more.

If you are willing to drive to Queens, there is Ms. Batz who posts on this forum.

There are other downstate electrologists listed on the AEA web site as well, www.electrology.com
For anyone reading these posts, get electrolysis on the areaola’s most definitely! ELECTROLYSIS DOES NOT SCAR, but you will have temporary skin mainfestations for a week or less. It’s called the healing process. It goes away, just as a scrape or mosquito bite would, except that it takes less time.
I did two women and one man just today (6 areaola’s in total) and it goes fast and complete clearance is achieved first time and everytime thereafter until the end comes in 9-12 months. If it takes any longer than this, something is wrong. No tweezing or waxing after you start electrolysis. You still need to get through hair growth cycles, so stay true to a schedule and get in to see your electrologist when you see NEW HAIRS coming to the surface.
ELECTROLYSIS is far superior for these hairs than laser. SCARRING DOESN’T HAPPEN, but assured PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL DOES if you see a professional electrologist that makes proper insertions and adds the correct amount of energy and timing for the hair structure being treated. This is so simple to do for those that approach this correctly.

I revisit this topic after 11 months. On each nipple, within the pigmented area, I currently have just one hair on each. I have had no further electrolysis in the last four months. I will have these treated next week. It seems I am finally done with this hair! The rest of my chest hair (and the rest of my body hair) is probally about 90-95% gone.
I started laser in Jan. 2007, electrolysis in Dec., 2007.

Sounds similar to what my clients experience with areola work. Most are finished within a year or less. Congratulations and enjoy.
