Are these settings too low?

Hi everyone

I had my third session earlier today but I’m not sure if the most effective settings are being used on my skin. I’ve had a long discussion with the clinic and my specialist and he’s sure the settings are just right. So far they’ve yielded positive results but i’d love your thoughts on the issue.

I’m using the Gentlelase Pro, my skin type is 3 (my skin tone is olive), I have coarse black hair and i’m of Middle Eastern descent. My treatment areas include my back, shoulders and upper arms.

I’m living in Doha, Qatar and there is only one laser hair removal clinic so finding another is not really option.

Nonetheless, i’ve attached a pic of the settings and would love your feedback.

Thanks

Hi Abraham,

Just curious…is there an electrologist in Qatar? I have been trying to find one but no luck so far.

Thanks,

Anamika.

You need to ask them what spot size they’re using. It’s not on the screen. The screen says 12 joules, which is technically too low on any spot size. But we also need to know your skin type on the Fitzpatrick skin chart. Please look it up and estimate. I’m guessing you’re at least a 4.

Also, is your hair coarse and dense on all those areas? Those areas are susceptible to induced growth.

It’s 18mm. It’s on the bottom left corner

Are you sure? Don’t see that in this photo.

Not a doubt in my mind. The spot sizes on the screen go in sequential order, so the spot size selected is max, which is 18mm. It’s the same layout on the Gentlemax. You can also tell because in this picture the max spot size is selected as well as the highest joules (which is 20 in this case):

Maybe my screen doesn’t allow me to zoom in enough. I can’t see that number at all. Either way, thanks!

This is too low of a setting.

Hi,

I’m a Type IV on the Fitzpatrick scale and have dark coarse hair.

Based on this, what should be the ideal settings?

Thanks

They need to test your skin and use the highest your skin can handle.
