Hello to all Im new to electrolysis after 2-3 years of laser hair removal I decided to try something new. I want to get rid of the hair for good so I found an electrolysis in my area last tuesday and she treated a few hairs to show me how it would feel. After treatment she advised me I might get scabs and not to pick them and keep the area clean. We set up an appointment for Tuesday Nov 1. I have scabs on every area she treatment and none of them have fallen off yet. I’ve read that scabs arent normal and some say they are. I dont know if I want to continue with this because my skin looks worst then when I walked in her office. She also said I need to see her once a week and after 4 months we could bump it down to twice a month. She told me to give her 2 years and I would be free of hair on my neck. Is this to often to go to a electrolysis? Is two years a bit long? If I’m seen
once a week and I still have scabs present them how will I get anywhere with my treatment?? Someone please help me, Im so sick of holding my neck down in shame of this problem. PLEASE HELP
There are two pictures of the right and left side of my neck below
Never pick a scab. It has been said many times that a scab is nature’s band-aid. These scabs will fall away when the healing underneath is complete.
Some electrologists believe that scabbing is indicative of a good treatment. Many say not so, including me, and do everything possible to avoid scabbing on a clients face and neck in order to not cause the client stress. Clients don’t have the luxury of going into hiding for I-2 years while they are having electrolysis, so it my goal to do everything possible not to scab my people. I get very few complaints and that brings me much satisfaction. I am not rare. There are many electrologists doing the same thing.
It is possible to treat the thickest, baddest hairs on the neck and face with no scabbing, but it takes good equipment, good probes, good technique followed by a good aftercare routine. If you have some very small pinpoint scabbing, no big deal. Those scabs are not seen too easily and disappear in less than week. Your concern with the bigger scabs is worth a discussion with your practitioner. See what she can do to minimize this reaction.
As far as the time schedule goes, if you have been a heavy tweezer or waxed for years, the hair will come forth fast and furious so she may want to see you once a week so you won’t be tempted to tweeze in between treatments . The first 4-6 months are the hardest. Do not get whimpy and sad. See it through during these hard beginning months. Stay close to her.
Did you get all the hairs cleared yet? How thick are the hairs? Were you an avid tweezer, like everyday? It could very well take two years for your case. What do you do for aftercare?
Thanks for the pictures
Thank you so much for responding! When I was doing laser all the hairs didnt clear so I stopped going last month. The electrolysis that I went to it was a sample treatment so I still have alot of hair left. The hairs really arent that thick for the most part most of them are fine with a few coarse hairs. I did tweeze from 05-07. For aftercare I put aloe vera on the neck and didnt touch it for 24 hrs. Today I called another electrolysis because I just dont feel comfortable with the scabs, not one has fallen off and its been a week
So, May 7th is the last time you tweezed? Or did you mean, you started tweezing May 7th onward to the spent time?
We always advise shopping around and seeing what other electrologists re like. Thumbs up on that one.
No Im sorry last tweezed was 2005-2007 I spent maybe once a week. I saw the electrolysis today and she made adjustment and decreased my anxiety. I look forward to this journey!
