wow, ok let me see if I can explain this one.
The belief that hairs must be treated in only anogen is incorrect, as you have correctly surmised from reading here. It’s a proven fact. Multiple electrologists on this board have proven that they have been able to clear area is 2-3 clearances, an accomplishment that makes impossible the assertation that telogen hairs are nnot killed. They may require additional skill and techniques to kill them, but telogen hairs can be killed like any other. There is more than enough moisture in deep follicles to conduct heat or create lye necessary to perform a successful epilation.
However, for many years it was believed that only Anogen hairs should be treated. So the theory goes, telogen hairs are “too dry” in the follicle to have sufficient effect from either thermolysis , or blend treatments both of which rely on moisture content in the follicle to accomplish the destruction of the hair follicle and its germination cells/ blood supply.
Now , because this was believed so widely for so many years, the assertion that only Androgen hairs are killed has become deeply rooted in both the brains of professional electrologists, AND in education about electrolysis. So professionals who were taught “Anogen only” and havent upgraded their knowledge , s well as training maerial in electrology schools even today, all stress an anogen only theorum.
In montreal, is located the Dectro school of electrology. Having been there recently ( we were buying a machine at the time, my partner who is a CPE and myself her apprentise) been at the school, I was advised by the instructor who was helping to demonstrate the machine, that I should be following an anogen only strategy, and also encouraging my clients to come a minimum of every 2-3 in order to catch the hairs all in anogen. So, it’s still being taught in schools today, and as I’m doing my own certification at hte moment, I’m also learning from a textbook, that, guess what , contains a primarily anogen only theory!
So There is a good news/bad news part of this. The good news is, your electrologist could be killing telogen hair, without believing that she is. The bad news side being, that she may not be targeting telogen hairs at all and may be just leaving them until they shed and return as anogen hair extending treatment.
Going once a month, is not going to cause you to throw your money away. There’s no special treatment, except maybe that such hairs require a slightly shallower insertion.
taps foot and waits for Adrien to chime in on this
