Apogee Lasers?

I’m wondering if anyone here has any experience with Apogee Lasers? I’ve been getting treated with one for a few years now (I have complete clearance on legs/underarms and partial clearance on bikini. Its weird bec legs/underarms responded so well and I only see a random hair or two pop up every few months. Initially, bikini responded really well too and after a couple of treatments, I had 50% clearance. However, since then, it has been stuck at 50% clearance for more than a year. I’m wondering if this laser is not good for middle eastern skin types or if I’ve simply had too much of it and my body has stopped responding? The specific type they use is Apogee 5500 and its been the only that has been used since I started treatment. I find it weird that parts of my body responded so well, bikini responded partially and other parts (arms/back) didnt respond at all. I am already looking at electrolysis for face

Apogee lasers has had favorable comments here on hairtell in the past, but Candela’s GentleLase seems to be the darling of them all. After you had a 50% reduction on your bikini area, might the hairs that returned been too fine or light to treat with the laser?

Is this laser capable of doing an alexandrite treatment or a yag treatment? If the hair on your arms and back are dark and fine, that could explain why those areas didn’t respond.

Kudos to you for choosing electrolysis for your face.

Hi Dee, thank you for responding. The hair on my arms and back is quite fine and dark so I could understand that not working, but the 50% hair left in the bikini area is not fine at all. Its dark, coarse hair so I don’t understand why it isn’t working. Do you think that I might have better results with GentleLase on the fine arm/back hair? I know I’m being a bit obsessive about that hair, but I just HATE hair and I have a good touch up treatment package at $250 for the whole body so I have figured that if going in 2-3 times a year keeps me hair free (even if not permanently), its not a big deal. Even waxing would cost more. It would be nice to have permanent clearance on those areas though.

What does you laser specialist think about your bikini area not responding so well? That area is usually a slam dunk for laser. Did it hurt a lot when you had laser in this area? Was the area red for a little time? Was each follicle red and raised after the treatment? I’m wondering if the energy levels were set properly.

I don’t think GemtleLase would do your arms and back much good either even if the hair is fine and dark, but you can try it if you have access to one in your area.

Do what you can with the laser plan and then switch to electrolysis for refining and completing your permanent hair removal plan.
