Just curious, has anybody tried Apilux IPL by Dectro? Since Dectro is considered the best company producing electrolysis epilator, they shuld produce all very high-quality products.
On their web-sire they claim that their Apilux is “The only IPL device that guarantees 100% permanent hair removal.” Is it true? But if it is, why I’ve read so often that IPL is even less effective than laser, and the laser fails often as well?
Since hair removal practitioners in many areas of the world are not allowed to use lasers, Apilux is manufactured as an IPL type of device and therefore has greater sales potential. The manufacturer, DECTRO, does make a phenomenal electrolysis machine but they are also brilliant at marketing.
I stress that the marketing is brilliant.
If you read the Apilux website carefully, you will notice that they are saying that the Apilux, in conjunction with radio-frequency will give you 100% permanent hair removal. This is correct.
From their website, [i]"…it is the first device in the world to use an alternative pulsed light (APL) in combination with a recognized method of permanent epilation, namely the Apilus radiofrequency system…"

The Apilus radiofrequency system is … take a guess?
Thermolysis electrolysis.
Wanna comment Dee? (She was sitting next to me while the owner of Dectro was talking about it.)
Dear Ekade,
My name is Dario and I’m working in Dectro’s exports department and I’m happy to hear that you are interested by our Apilux IPL systems. I would like to take this opportunity to clarify this issue. In fact, no IPL manufacturer in the world (doesn’t matter if in Canada or USA) can state that their device provides 100% permanent hair removal. BUT, the Apilux 2G Premium incorporates an electrolysis device inside and since electrolysis is permanent, we can state that we manufacture "The only IPL device that guarantees 100% permanent hair removal” without lying :). Beside the Apilux 2G Premium, we also make a regular version without electrolys. However, both Apilux 2G and Apilux 2G premium are not yet available for the US market. I would rather suggest that you take a look at the Apilux Smart Pro which is available for the US market and incorporates all newest technologies : http://www.dectro.com/en/images/stories/pdf/depliant-smartpro.pdf
Since, this device was presented in Québec City at the Modern Electrolysis Symposium this August, I’m sure that some of the participants such as Arlene and Dee can give you an accurate feedback
If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
Dario

Thank you for your reply! I recall that ELOS technology by Syneron claims that they have a IPL+RF. Do you have the same principle as they?
Hello Ekade,
it’s not at all the same principle. The Apilux 2G Premium has an incorporated electrolysis unit inside. As you already know, electrolyis is the only 100% permanent method recognized by the FDA.
On the other hand, the efficiency of RF without insertion in combination with IPL or laser is yet to be proven, that’s why Dectro is not offering such a technology.
Dario
I think there would be no confusion if it was stated that the RF is introduced into the follicle by needle electrolysis. Although the only sure thing, it is not glamorized the way wavelengths are.
I’m sorry but I still cannot understand the difference. I am not a native-English speaker, maybe that’s why it is more difficult for me.
Quote from DECTRO web-site “In fact, it is the first device in the world to use an alternative pulsed light (APL) in combination with a recognized method of permanent epilation, namely the Apilus radiofrequency system.”
Quote from Syneron web-site “Using revolutionary elōs Technology, our systems first preheat the target using optical energy, which creates a thermal path on which the radio frequency (RF) travels.”
For me it seems almost the same principle of work: both said that use RF. What I did not understand? Thank you
Perhaps this will clear up the confusion.
The international version has an electrolysis machine built in, and one can use the IPL wand, and then, put it down and grab the tried and true electrolysis probe/needle holder, and do regular electrolysis in the thermolysis modality with insertion of a probe/needle into the follicle and treatment energy directly interacting with the growth cells of the follicle, while utilizing your favorite electrolysis probes/needles.
If you sold a motorcycle and a car as a packaged unit, you would have a similar idea.
Thank you very much for explanation, James! Now everything is clear, of course!
Maybe because I am not a native English speaker, but I do think that Dectro should make it more clear on their web-site. I understood it that Dectro IPL method had something very special about. But as I said, maybe it is all because English is my second language.
