Apilus xcell pur, problems with automatic mode

Hi, I’m a fairly new electrologist, and trained with my machine - apilus xcell pur.
I’ve been having issues whilst using the automatic mode; the current is released as soon as I touch the clients skin with my hand, even before I’m able to insert the probe.
When this problem starts, the current is also not being released even when the probe is inserted into the follicle- no reaction or beep occurs.
I am not having the problem all the time, and sometimes I’m able to work for an hour perfectly, but at other times, the issue happens every two minutes.
I hope this is clear, and wonder if anyone else experienced this problem, and know perhaps how to solve it.
thank you

Hi and welcome! Are you using the foot switch or the pedal-free mode?

hi
thanks
I’m using the pedal-free mode

If you test it with the footswitch do you have the same problem? Also are you wearing insulated gloves on your free hand?

Hi Andrea
thanks for your replies.
when I use the footswitch, I don’t experience these issue at all.
I don’t always wear gloves as clients complain that is pulls their skin. How do I know if gloves are insulated?
thanks

I would start by replacing the ground/neutral wire and the probeholder. Probeholders on Xcels and Platinum Pures are notoriously short lived. Sometimes I go through 1 or 2 a month! I have the same question Andrea does, are you not wearing gloves? Most health departments require them.

The Xcell only fires when it detects the completion of a mild DC circuit. You can adjust the delay from this point in the settings for automatic.

If replacing the ground/neutral wire and probeholder does not resolve the probem, I would contact Dectro for warranty service.

hi
thanks for your reply
Dectro are sending me a new probeholder, so I hope that will help.
I’m going to try monitor the difference when I work with/without gloves, and will update.
thanks

I’ve been working with gloves, and it has not helped.
have you ever experienced these issues? that the circuit is closing at the wrong time?
which one is the ground/neutral wire? if dectro are sending a new probe holder will this be changed?
thanks for your advice

No I never use automatic mode ( I’m a bit of a pedal queen, I like the level of control the pedal gives me) so I cant say precisely whether the probe holder will work or not. It’s a good first step however, eliminate everything else not inside the machine, and then if that proves to not be the case, have the machine itself serviced.

thanks
