Apilus sm-500 memory card reset

Hi today i switched on the machine entered my pass code and it would no longer allow access

i have been using the same pass for 5 years now then all of a sudden nothing simply said/says enter your pass code after an bleep incorrectly

i understand there is a reset SDRAM CODE code that can be entered via the config but the newer sx 500 method doesnt work
i have emailed dectro and they say first try a new battery then email us again - which i have ordered but i do not think it is that as it seems to fire up fine. I will try that when it comes of of course but has anybody else had these problems - it seems a shame that such a great machine cannot function without that card - now using my galvanic until i hear more

You don’t have to order the battery from Dectro. You can buy one from Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, or any other place with an electronic section. The battery is a 2025 watch battery. The system was designed to keep secure and make unauthorized use, or theft a useless thing. You need to get that battery, reload it, and then call Dectro on the phone so they can talk you through the verification process to reinitialize your machine. It is very important that you keep a fresh battery in the card, and that you do NOT leave the card connected in the machine when the power if off. Should the card be left in the machine when the power is off, the machine will drain the battery, as it would be the only power source available to it. The card would die in a few days if this happened. So leave it in over the weekend, and you can’t work on Monday Morning.

I wouldn’t like this feature. Why does Dectro make such a set up?

As stated previously, it was designed to keep the machine secure in a salon. The workers could not give away free treatments, as the owner would not release the card without someone having had paid for treatments. Also, the owner would have different pass codes for each practitioner, could change the passcodes when ever one wanted and finally, could set the machine so that it would not operate without a file being opened. The problem was that since most professionals are working for themselves, and don’t have underlings, this feature just becomes a cumbersome headache with no real benefit to most, other than the knowledge that if someone ever stole the machine, they would eventually have a piece of abstract art, or have to call Dectro to try to unlock it, and be found out as having a stolen machine.

You will notice that this feature was dropped from the Apilus Platinum.

I was thinking that as I read the first paragraph that this was eliminated from the Apilus Platinum and Pure. Dectro probably got sick of getting calls to reinitialize the epilators that died. Gosh, it is so much easier to use the modern Apilus Platinum where you push buttons to enter your code, with no need of worrying about batteries dying if you forget to take the SCRAM card out over the weekend.

what a load of hassle

secure salon machine? there is only me here stupid overthinking

well it wasnt the battery :stuck_out_tongue:

Now i have to call Canada from the UK and their toll free number is hopeless goodness knows what this is going to cost me

NEVER buying apilus again

SM-500 FORMAT

Before doing anything. Please check that the memory card button onn the top, where it is marked

(Write protect) is not at the write protect

When you’re starting the procedure, please do not turn off the apilus Because it will change everytime.

Turn on the apilus. Press on configuration button.

press on the left arrow once.
then press on the right arrow once.
then press on PULSE HF.
then twice on GLV
then once program

you should now have access to a menu.

press underneath the word format.
press start and format will begin (it looks like its deleting everything and its horrible but it’s not ;)) after the sequence is done, press under access code and change

the code to you own pass.

You should now be able to turn off and on and have access to you’re sm-500.

Have fun and happy days a very happy (SAM) SPARX

That would all be well and good, except that every code verification on the machine will be different, that is why you need to be talking to someone there when you do this.

ah yeah oh well it at least does not seem as scary when you see it like that they did it all by email just email them turn your machine on press config and leave it like that then send them the key and wait and do not turn the machine off

then enter what dectro say back in their email

bummer its not a standard code can’t think why they need it to be so complicated - probably seemed like a good idea at the time - as they did not check on me with it i could have stolen it i mean - i havent and have the receipts but you know :frowning: :)P :)P :stuck_out_tongue: :)P

I would not like even that. Is this avoidable, maybe in the Pure?

Beate

It is no big deal Beate. Turn on the Platinum or Pure, your name appears in a box. Push the validation key and type in your 5 digit code in the box below your name. Now you are free to set your program. Takes less than five seconds. If someone steals your epilator, they can’t do anything with it because they won’t be able to enable it without your the code.

When you replace the battery, the S-RAM card must be inserted into the machine with the power to the machine on, or the card will be erased. I turn my SM-500 off when I am done and the battery works fine. I would guess that the batteries in the S-RAM card should be replaced every 3-5 years, similar to a PC’s motherboard battery.

On my SM-500, the pass code was printed right on the S-RAM card. I accidentally reformatted my card and the code still worked.
