Apilus Senior?

Hello,

Does anyone have experience with the Apilus Senior? I just went for a consultation and they use the Apilus Senior. The esthetician said the hair on my face is a lot and needs many hours of work to reach clearance so she said we’ll have to do a few sessions of IPL (to reduce the thickness/amount) and then move on to electrolysis with the Apilus Senior. Thoughts? Advice?

DesperateMeasure;
All the apilus machines are good machines. I used a Apilus Senior when I was in Electrology School. If you have fair skin and your hair is thick and course, then Laser/IPL might very well offer quicker results to first clearing. However, hair that has been hit by laser can wait 3 years before returning. Therefore, treatments may need to be spread over a longer period of time. If your hair follicles are not very deep, IPL may be a way to proceed. Find out what kind of training this Esthetician has received and decide if this is the way you wish to proceed. I have had clients who choose laser before coming to see me, and first clearance does come much faster, but they end up coming for a longer period of time, as hairs I have not treated before, start coming back.

Yes. It’s a good machine. The presets are all pretty well figured out and work great in the selected target areas. Not only do I have one, but one of the fellow electrologists at the electrolysis office I go to has one as well. But my particular electrologist uses a Senior II.

The Senior can do 100th of a second pulses, and can vary time for insertion delay and time between multi-pulses. Using this multi-pulse option can really free up hairs quickly. I would consider it bottom of the really capable, fast pro-office machines. They are not new machines (about, what 12 years now?) but they last forever and the basic technology is still accepted as capable of doing a good pro Flash Mode job. If this machine somehow became broken, I would buy at least a Senior II, SX-500, or Platinum. Once you see how extensively one can DIY or co-DIY, or your girlfriend /wife use the machine as well, it becomes very clear $3,000 to $9,000 is money well spent and easily worth it. I mean, doesn’t it make sense to skip buying a new car for a year so you can have absolutely hairless, smooth skin? But that’s aside the point.

To give a summary answer: The Senior is a great, straightforward, capable machine. If things lack, at least this machine wouldn’t be at fault.

Thank you Marthajoy. I’ve actually had laser hair removal done for many years - I experienced induced hair growth on my face, especially in really awkward areas such as the forehead and my cheek where there is thick black hair and finer hair in the sideburns so I’m anxious and I really hope i respond well to the IPL (I’m fair with pretty dark hair), I’m too scared to do laser any more. Thanks again.

Thanks Mantaray. I’m glad to know it’s a good machine, I was worried it’s a really old outdated model. Thank you for the information.
