Apilus Senior (1st gen) or Instantron Elite?

Hi everyone, long-time listener first-time caller here.

I am looking to upgrade to a more powerful machine from my humble TES-300. Two online posts have captured my attention: a first-generation Apilus Senior and an Instantron Elite (not the spectrum), both for the same price.

My leaning is obviously towards the Apilus as it is newer, more powerful, more versatile etc. At the same time, I am wary of it breaking down in a manner that is unfixable-- I just read this comment by Iluv2zap detailing the hardware limitations of older-gen Apilus machines (battery failures, having to resolder the motherboard if memory chip dies, etc) and it makes me anxious about buying a machine that could simply stop functioning at any moment.

The Instantron Elite seems much more simply built, and I assume the motherboard would also be easier to fix if anything happens to it. Beyond this I’m not sure, and it’s hard to find information about both of these machines online. If anyone has experience with either of them and can point out it there’s an obvious better choice, or even break down further pros/cons of each I’d be very grateful!
